The Historic Route 66 hotel is a good choice when in Seligman. We had #109 (but no one famous stayed in this room, unlike some of the others) which was a large room with two queen beds on either side of the entrance to make the most effective use of the space, a small desk & chair, an upholstered chair, TV, and it also had a fridge and coffee set-up in the large bathroom. Linens were clean and fresh, beds were comfortable and firm (we like a firm mattress), and the room was clean overall. The carpet was fairly old though. Maybe they'll replace it soon. This hotel's been around for awhile as have all the other hotels in town but at least their beds and linens seemed newer than the carpet.
Amenities were a little sparse; there were only two small bars of soap on the sink, but we usually carry all the toiletries we want with us and don't use the hotel freebie stuff anyway. They give you PLENTY of towels! There were 6 bath towels, 5 hand towels, and 6 wash cloths, more than enough for us.
Our only complaints about the hotel room were that the curtains allowed quite a bit of light in. They need to have heavier curtains or light-blocking liners like they have in Vegas hotels. Also, we heard a lot of noise from traffic on the main street and from trains going by, which we pretty much expected seeing as how it's right on the main drag through town as are all the other hotels in Seligman. Historic Route 66 is on the north side of main street though, unlike some of the other hotels at the east end of the street on the south side - I would imagine those get worse train noises as they are closer to the tracks. One other thing was the dark closet of a shower. When you close the shower curtain it's quite dark in there! One last thing, the gravel parking area. Not a big deal in a car, but a bit of a slippery nuisance with motorcycles though.
You get a 10% discount at The Roadkill Cafe next door if you show them your room key, but we opted to eat at Westside Lilo's across the street instead. They were busier than Roadkill, had live music, and grilled steak and salmon specials on the Saturday evening we were there. Roadkill had just two tables of customers when we stuck our head in the door, not a good sign. We'll eat at a busy place rather than one with no cars in the parking lot any day. Westside Lilo's had excellent food and service and we recommend it highly. Also had breakfast there the following morning, which was good as well.
Overall, we'd recommend the Historic Route 66 Hotel as a good choice for when you're exploring Route 66 and find yourself in Seligman looking for a place to stay. If you take into account where you're at and aren't expecting Trump Towers or Four Seasons it's everything you need in a great location in town within walking distance to stores and restaurants. Pretty good price for the room, too.
