Wonderful. An unabstructed view of Oak Creek, red rocks on Schnebly Hill Road and beautiful homes. This "resort" isn't fancy but it has everything that you need and it is close to things you might want. We have stayed there several times over the last 10 years (starting in 1993) and the owners have done work to maintain the basics everytime we come back. Have had some memorable light meals on the balcony of room number 34 and always request that room when we make reservations.
Even after reading some of the not-so-good reviews, I really enjoyed staying at the Cedars Resort. My experience was different than others.
The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were decent and I even had a room facing the street, but it was nice and how many people spend their vacation in their hotel room anyway. I liked it, I have stayed in hotels in Chicago that were double and triple this price and my views were of the neighboring brick building. Poolside at Cedars Resort is a relaxing view overlooking the Red Rock canyons. You couldn't ask for anything but peaceful. I will be staying there again on my next visit to Sedona. One more item, the difference between Cedars Resort and some of the others is that they do not sucker you into the tours for low rates and pressure you into buying timeshares.
This motel doesn't come close to qualifying as a resort. The rooms are old with low ceilings and out-of-date decor. The staff is rude and not at all helpful. We made reservations months in advance based on information about the "resort" on the internet. The motel "lost" the reservation and after a lot of time on hold with rude desk clerks, the reservation was found but the information was incorrect. To make a long story short, we were stuck in a room adjacent to a busy street with a "view" of the parking lot. No apologies for the mix-up, no discounts offered. In fact, they charged me $20 extra because I had my children with me...a fact that I included in the original reservation information. We will never stay here again nor recommend this hotel (or TravelNow) to anyone!
