“Return customer-review of 2nd floor Fireplace room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

This was our 4th time staying at the Wildflower Inn (see an earlier review I wrote for it); it's the only place we stay at when visiting Sedona (other than camping). The staff at Wildflower is always really nice, although in the 4 years we've been coming here, there seems to always be a new manager. Jack B. is the current GM (at the time we stayed in December 2011), and I spoke on the phone with him when making my reservation--he's very accommodating, professional, and kind.

Hint: you can check out rates on Wildflower Inn’s website, but I always like to make my reservations by phone… you might land a better deal than what you’d get on the website. AAA discounts are accepted and make this hotel one of the more affordable and comfortable places to stay. Another hint: since the location of this hotel is not in “Uptown Sedona”, but rather in The VILLAGE of Oak Creek, sales tax percentage is lower than uptown (for lodging, restaurants, and retail); and there are some really amazing hikes close to The Village of Oak Creek. You can always take a drive to check out the other areas of Sedona, but we like to stay in Oak Creek Village because it’s a little more low key and some of our favorite hiking locales are nearby. (Note: don’t confuse “Oak Creek Canyon” with the Village of Oak Creek (Oak Creek Village)… Oak Creek Canyon is off the 89A north of Uptown Sedona and is where you’ll find our favorite West Fork Trail hike and others; Village of Oak Creek is off 179 and is south of the “Y”… you can research more on your own, but it’s good to know that these are two different locations.)

**Read on for more details about our most recent stay at Wildflower Inn**
We have always chosen a first floor room with the Jacuzzi tub (which is a really nice treat for sore muscles after a full day of hiking the red rocks). This time, we visited in December and knew it'd be colder and that we’d only be stopping over for the night, so we decided on a room with a fireplace-- those are typically on the second floor. Our room had a small foldout couch, so you could comfortably sleep 3 (petite person on the foldout) in that room if you needed. It was just two of us, and my husband is 6'2"; their beds are the most comfortable of any hotel we stay at; and they give you plenty of regular-sized pillows (vs. another “Inn” where they now have square pillows). We pretty much can count on a good night's sleep at the Wildflower. Our view from room 213 (second floor with the fireplace) was more of the eastern mountains and the shopping area across the street (we've always had nice views of Bell Rock from the first floor when we’re in a room with the Jacuzzi tub), but you can eat your breakfast from their little 2nd floor patio area which offers a really beautiful view of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, not to mention a nice place for your spouse to read a book while you are getting ready. :o)

Their free breakfast this time around was a bit skimpy, but they have a DIY waffle maker, which is one of my favorite things. They've had hard boiled eggs in the past, but this time the options seemed pretty slim. However, a “free” brekky is always nice to have so you can save your cash to check out other places for lunch, or to just fuel up before a morning hike in one of the prettiest places in the world.

Our FAVORITE places in Sedona:
Lodging: Wildflower Inn
Eats: Blue Moon Café (across the street from the Wildflower)
Hikes: Cathedral Rock scramble / West Fork Trail / Bell Rock (various trails and scramble up the rock)
Camping: Pine Flats (we haven’t been here since 2008 and last we saw in 2010, they were renovating this campsite)
Drive: about 30-45 north is Flagstaff, and if you take the 89 it’s a BEAUTIFUL scenic drive. Keep the camera on hand!!!

Room Tip: Jacuzzi tub rooms are on the 1st floor and offer a gr8 view of Bell Rock (except for one room-I thin...

This is an older inn but an excellent value. It is in a great location just outside of Sedona but with amazing views of Bell Rock and Courhouse Butte as well as other surrounding scenery. The staff was wonderful. I will admit that when I checked the prices of hotels in the area, I was worried about booking here because it was such a good value compared to other places. It was charming. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I am fortunate enough to return to this area.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the second floor facing both of the mountains. Ask for a fireplace room.

With its breathtaking views, great location, affordable rates and terrific service, Sedona's Wildflower Inn is the area's best kept secret.

Just a few miles from downtown Sedona, the Wildflower boasts unforgettable vistas of Sedona's geological marvels. Driving the few miles into town along the rock-rimmed highway is no burden at all. Being off the main drag keeps the room price down to a fraction of what those just a few miles away. (There's even outlet shopping just a mile down the road going the opposite direction.)

As good as the price and views were, the staff may have been the best aspect of our stay. We arrived well into the evening with children in tow. The staff hustled us across the street to the Blue Moon (?) pizza restaurant across the street before it closed. In the morning, the Wildflower puts out a very nice continental breakfast featuring DIY Belgian waffles, among other choices.

Most welcome of all, however, was that, noticing our kids, the staff secured for us steep discounts on the nearby Out of Africa Wildlife Park. A terrific attraction, the preserve includes all kinds of exotic wild animals including: lions, tigers (including a white tiger that performs poolside), bears, rhinos, camels, zebras any number of gazelles, impalas and the like, and many more. If you've never fed a giraffe mouth-to-mouth, it's an experience you're unlikely to forget (see photo). The discount the staff got us probably paid for a night's stay in the inn.

Sedona's great restaurants and shopping make it a worthwhile destination, and the Wildflower's outstanding value makes it a hidden gem in the desert.

I've stayed here on 8 vacations over the past 9 years, mostly in the winter. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, the rooms have always been clean and a decent size, there are good restaurants nearby, and best of all, you're only 5 miles south of Sedona which is a little too crowded for me. A nice quiet place to stay!

Nice place, nothing too special, but comfy and clean. We didn't spend much time in the rooms anyways. Walking distance to the trails and the views are unbeatable. We went for a walk in the morning, ate breakfast, went for a hike and ate lunch on the trail. If you are the outdoors type, this is the place for sure, but if you are going to spend a lot of time in the room, don't bother. OVerall a great find for the money, and the best location for hiking in Sedona

We originally booked our rooms at the Wildflower Inn for 3 nights at the beginning of our holiday. We ended up back there for the last three nights as well. So 6 out of 10 days were spent here. We LOVED it.
Whether it was information about our room and the hotel or the surrounding area the staff was very friendly and helpful in every way.
-The room was clean and WARM (we had trouble with the heaters working in other hotels).
-The view from our window was breathtaking.
-The location is very central to so many of the areas attractions: shopping, vortexes, hiking, Cross chapel etc. It was easy to find our way to and from EVERYWHERE from this location!

Room Tip: Central to many of the areas attractions by car. Very quiet and clean with breathtaking view from ou...

Most of the available hotels were booked for the holiday so we were limited in our choices. What a find!
1. Location. All the rooms are facing the famous Courthouse Rock. And easily within walking distance. We like to hike so this was a plus and it saved us a parking fee.
2. Staff. The front desk personnel were extremely friendly, informative and made us feel welcomed.
3. Rooms. There was even a sofabed in the room. We found out at check out that there are rooms available with a jacuzzi. I recommend the Marketplace Cafe located about a mile east of the hotel. We will certainly return to this Inn for our next stay in Sedona.
