Our family enjoyed our stay at the Kokopelli Inn, a comfortable and convenient place located beyond the commercialism of the "new age" area of Sedona. Upon driving into the parking lot, the beauty of the red rocks cannot be ignored. The cost of the room is relatively cheap compared to others in the area, and our kids (ages 11 & 14 at the time) enjoyed the pool after a day spent touring Sedona & Oak Creek. Also, there is a great affordable restaurant right across the street which also has a wonderful bakery for breakfast and free entertainment at dinnertime (the Desert Flower). Even though the Kokopelli provides breakfast, we loved the pastries and danish at the local bakery. We had a view of Bell Rock from our room, but we didn't spend much time there since we were touring the area. Overall, a great value to return to for a swim at the end of the day and still enjoy the scenery!

I found the hotel just OK. While the beds were quite comfortable and the double shower head was very nice, the room was rather barren and under furnished. Further, whatever they used to clearn the room smelled extremely bad (sort of like a more chemical-smelling stale smoke smell)--and we had a non-smoking room. The mix of both in a smoking room must be terrible. Continental breakfast was nice and an attendant was there to make Waffle House-style waffles if you so desired one. For the price we paid, about 89 dollars or so for Sedona, it is probably a good, but by no means great or outstanding value. Also, the location is about a 10 minute drive from downtown Sedona and is located in the more commercial/strip mallesque village fo Oak Creek. If you want to be able to walk to shopping/restaurants, etc., you are staying at the wrong motel. It is closer to I-17 than it is to Oak Creek Canyon.

Had a king bed with the magnetic sleep system and the mattress was a wonderful experience. But other than that I felt that "there was something missing"...like there was an ironing board but no iron, refrigerator but no microwave, no stationery or pens, no phone books, and no magazines or guides to Sedona. Also no shampoos or shower caps or personal ammenities offered. I've done a lot of staying in hotel rooms in the last several months and expect those items.
Still it's a good value for the price but if this were my first trip to Sedona I would have been very disappointed by the stay.

Highlights of the Kokopelli Inn were its good value, impressive view of Bell Rock, the made-to-order waffles which are part of a complimentary breakfast, and its mattresses. Also, the management was very accommodating in the booking process.

We traveled througout the Southwest in September, 2006 and made short term reservations ahead trying to match tripadvisor with expedia. We ended up for two nights at the Kokopelli and we were very impressed with the cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff. We had a great view and to find a nice hotel like this in Sedona (actually Oak Creek) for under $100 seemed amazing. The Chinese restaurant up the street by Bell rock intersection (The Red Chopsticks) was great also.
I would recommend this highly.
