“Positive Stay At Kings Ransom”

rocky mountains
May 6, 2008

Stayed at Kings Ransom in early April 2008 with my wife and 2-year old son. Reminded me of what Arizona might have been like in the 1960s but with the modern conveniences. The room was larger than normal but not big. The fit and finish of the room was average and totally comfortable. We like to stay in first class properties typically but we decided to downscale it a bit on this trip and Kings Ransom met our objectives. The staff are friendly and helpful. The on-property restaurant was EXCELLENT and was recently written up in the Arizona Republic as being a great restaurant. The courtyards had an "old school" feel that is so much more real than staying in a Marriott or Radisson (pick your chain). Nice pool with adjacent hot tub too. Hiking trails abound and one in particular is a one-block walk from the property. For the price, the Kings Ransom offered a good value with friendly service and comfortable but not luxurious surroundings. Save yourself several hundred dollars per night, downscale it a bit and have a memorable visit.

“A Very Comfortable Stay”

Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel

May 6, 2008

Booked the suite and this was great for a family. Very comfortable rooms, spacious bathroom with spa bath which was a real treat after a day's sightseeing. The pool was lovely, there's a great mexican restaurant next door (the restaurant was closed as it was Sunday) and the location was convenient for travel. Breakfast was included and plentiful so can't complain (there was plenty of seating too which was good). If we stayed in Sedona again we would probably go for something more in the middle of town, but the Kings Ransom wasn't that far out and it was overall a very comfortable stay.

“Good enough for one night”

New York, NY

The hotel is divided into two sections, the courtyard which is centered around the pool (with no AC in those rooms) and the Trailhead rooms where my husband and I stayed for one night. Room was decently large with a king bed and queen pull out sofabed. nice jacuzzi tub which we didn't take advantage of. the Bath and Body Works toiletries were the highlight of our stay here. The absolute worse part of the rooms are the paper thin walls! we could hear everything happening next door and upstairs x10! After no sleep and several complaints to the front desk they finally tried to appease us by giving us 10% off our room. whoop-dee-doo. If we ever decide to visit Sedona again we'll look elsewhere.

“Suited us fine, clean, nice, good views”

We stayed in a two room suite-- a room with a trundle, tv, kitchenette and table, and another room with a king bed and bathroom. Worked fine for us, was clean and newly remodeled. Patio from both rooms with red-rock views. The property here is really nice. Basic, but clean and comfortable. Staff was okay, the older woman was helpful and nice, but the younger woman at the counter was pretty useless. There is a store next door for drinks and beer and wine, but not much else around. The negatives-- the soda machine was empty, and on Mondays when the restaurant is closed there isn't a bar or anything. We loved the Wildflower Bread company for breakfast, but were dissapointed with the Cowboy Club for dinner. Sedona is expensive and you get a lot less then anywhere else for your money, but it sure was pretty!

“Comfortable, close to hiking”

This hotel is between the road from the freeway to the center of town and a trailhead. It is a short walk to some shops and restaurants, but not easily accessible to the downtown or uptown areas without dealing with traffic. This said, it is a very decent basic place, well maintained, and with a nice pool area and a good restaurant on site. The views are very nice.
