Stayed at Kings Ransom in early April 2008 with my wife and 2-year old son. Reminded me of what Arizona might have been like in the 1960s but with the modern conveniences. The room was larger than normal but not big. The fit and finish of the room was average and totally comfortable. We like to stay in first class properties typically but we decided to downscale it a bit on this trip and Kings Ransom met our objectives. The staff are friendly and helpful. The on-property restaurant was EXCELLENT and was recently written up in the Arizona Republic as being a great restaurant. The courtyards had an "old school" feel that is so much more real than staying in a Marriott or Radisson (pick your chain). Nice pool with adjacent hot tub too. Hiking trails abound and one in particular is a one-block walk from the property. For the price, the Kings Ransom offered a good value with friendly service and comfortable but not luxurious surroundings. Save yourself several hundred dollars per night, downscale it a bit and have a memorable visit.
