“Enjoyable stay”

Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel

Apr 5, 2008

We stayed here for 2 separate nights while we did a driving loop north.
Our first night was in a trailhead room with a king and a sofa bed, the second a courtyard room with 2 queens. Both rooms were spacious & clean with nice toiletries.
On the first morning the breakfast room was closed so we had to go across to the Comfort Inn which was way too crowded and not very good. The breakfast at the Kings Ransom is basic (muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, boiled eggs, fruit) but tasty and in a nicer and bigger room than at the Comfort Inn.
We ate dinner at the Cafe Elote and Shugrues - which were both the most expensive meals we ate while in Arizona. Neither were particularly outstanding, but of the 2 we preferred Shugrues. Both were very busy and we were pleased we'd reserved a table at Cafe Elote as we were seated fairly quickly -we waited an hour at Shugrues!
The location and views are good, maybe next time it would be better to stay on the main street for more restaurant choices that are walkable, but that is the only reason I wouldn't stay here again.
We took the Broken Head / Scenic rim pink jeep tour which was a holiday highlight - definitely do it, we loved it!!

“A Very Nice Stopover”

We were here for one night and had 2 Trailhead King rooms on our way from Phoenix to GCNP during Spring Break. Although there are no elevators to the 2nd floor, they did have a ramp for those with trouble negotiating stairs and folks with heavy luggage. We had 4 kids (including a toddler) in tow, so had a lot of extra gears to haul.
I like the fact that the hotel was located at the southern end of town away from the noise and hubub of the touristy sections. I was here once 10 years ago for a 3 night stay in an Uptown location with fantastic views - but the price at that establishment is higher now and the area noisier as well. Because our rooms were farther up the back side of the hotel facing the end of Sombart Lane, you don't hear any traffic at all at night. Granted the views from our particular rooms were not quite spectacular, it is very easy to hike up to the top of Margs Draw trail to get a private, and (the photo enthusiasts that we are) unobstructed views of the magnificent red rock formations - or you can see it while breakfasting in the restaurant in the morning. Frankly, we spent so little time in our rooms except at night that it really didn't make a difference.
The rooms were clean and incredibly spacious for the price and the jaccuzzi tubs in our rooms were a plus though only one of us took advantage of it. Good quality sinkside toiletries, not the usual generic motel products.
Restaurant was closed on Mondays but we enjoyed a hearty dinner at the Red Rock Barbeque, and although we chose to breakfast elsewhere (Coffee Pot - per Redd Rox's recommendation, Thanks!), we were able to pick up some muffins, hard boiled eggs and fruits for the road, thus saving us from having to stop somewhere for lunch.
This was overall a very good deal in Sedona for our family. If we had more time and the weather a bit warmer, we would have made use of the pool and hot tub.

“Room was fine, but too expensive and terrible breakfast.”

This hotel is nicely situated and has all the amenities, but is an older property. It has been updated and is very clean and the staff were very accommodating. Although all hotels maybe expensive here in Sedona, our opinion is it was too expensive for what you get. They have a restaurant (evenings only), but evidently feel they must compete with other hotels and have a complimentary breakfast and it was really minimal to say the least. They'd be better off to just open their restaurant and charge for a decent breakfast.

“Best lodging value - Sedona AZ”

Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel

Mar 31, 2008

Just got back from a trip to Sedona, AZ, stayed at the Kings Ransom what a great place! Room was spacious, newly remodeled and had everything we needed for a family with a couple of young kids.

Service was was exceptional, pool was very nice, continental breakfast was a cut above the ordinary breakfast trough fare. Requests for towels or information were handled quickly and courteously.

All this for what we considered a great value in a an otherwise pricey Sedona. We liked the fact that it was a bit off the beaten path in Sedona as well, very quiet, access to a nice hiking trail behind the facility. If you're going to Sedona you have to check this place out.

“Good for a Weekend Stay”

Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel

Mar 28, 2008

My husband and I stayed here from March 21-23, 2008 (Easter weekend). The hotel is located in Sedona, where as some of the hotels are out of Sedona. This made it nice to be close to things, and not such much in the "tourist trap" areas. The hotel is nice overall.

The room upon first glance was not what we expected. We stayed in a Trailhead room with two Queens (prefered King, but said they were sold out). I would definately recommend the Trailhead rooms if you want any sort of privacy. The courtyard rooms share a balcony and are quite close together. The room was clean. We stayed on the second floor and it the floor creaked alot, we kept wondering what the first floor was hearing. Also no elevators, just stairs and it gets kinda of dark at night. They have tried to update the bedding, and bathrooms. Tubs have jets, bath and body works toiletries, mini fridge, hairdryer, and the room was very spacious. Our room had a decent view (see pics attached), and overall was about a 3 star rating. For the price in Sedona on Easter weekend it was good. I don't think we would want to stay here for more than a weekend get away.

The pool was nice and new. They had great lounge chairs and a good set up. However, we went to the Hot Tub one night, and it was gross. There was black grime around the rim, and the water was luke warm. It was chilly at night say mid 40's F and to jump into water that is only 80 F was a shock. Go to the pool, skip the Hot Tub and use your tub in your room.

The "Elote Cafe" was again good. The food was good, but overpriced. The service was slow, but accurate. Good views of Sedona (especially to see the sunset), but only if you want to pay the price to eat there. You can go up to the Sedona airport and have an even better view (gets very crowed) for free. There is a grocery store, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Quiznoes, etc in town for quick eats, and many more restuarants to try out.

They did have a computer to use for free internet, charged .10 cents a page to print anything. We used several times to look for other restuarants, print plane tickets, and maps.
