“Simply Enchanting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We were at Enchantment from 12/29 - 1/4 for a post-holiday and New Year's getaway and were so pleased we chose to stay at Enchantment. It's a very special place with scenery and amenities that simply don't end. We stayed in a Studio Casita with a mini-kitchen that really came in handy after long days of hiking and touring. The rooms are just as they appear on the website - I always appreciate that as we'd prefer no surprises. The staff is lovely and there to truly help and assist or to simply leave you be to make your own fun. The location is simply the best for getting away from it all, while being in the middle of everything that is wonderful about Sedona.

The morning delivery of juice and the newspaper is delightful and on New Year's Eve the hotel delivered a complimentary split of champagne and two engraved champagne glasses to every room. They didn't need to, we didn't expect it, but it was a lovely and gracious treat. Turn-down service is offered each night, and the staff arrives with bottled water and ice.

The outdoor hot tub at the Spa has the most amazing views of the Red Rocks - open from 6 am to 10 pm each and every day, it's a special way to start and end a vacation day.

We recommend a day trip to Cottonwood and Jerome, checking out all of the hiking trails near the resort (we're not real hikers, but managed them all quite well) and a little shopping at Tlaqupaque where you'll find some unique galleries, jewelry and specialty shops - all of the folks we encountered there simply wanted to share their stories of Sedona and the beauty of the place they live in - and if we happened to purchase something, that seemed okay too :)

Loved it. Hope to return. Don't know where else we'd want to stay when out that way!

Room Tip: All the room locations are lovely, but my preference would be to be furthest from the Main Building...

Stayed for one night travelling back from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. The hotel is about 2 miles from Sedona located in a secure cul-de-sac. All the staff were very friendly . We sayed in a junior suite . The room was spacious with a lovely gas fire and a very large comy bed.

The resort is quite big but you can hitch a ride on the various golf carts in the resort. We only stayed one night so I can't comment on the various activities but the highlight was the Che Ah Chi restaurant. It was amazing and up there with some of the mitchelin star places I have been to . We had the lobster bisque and the veal cheeks for starters , Both were delicious and then we had the bison steak and venison and again both were faultless. We then tried the lemon grass creme brulee , it was the best I have ever had.

Its a pity we couldn't stay longer as the resort is set on the side of a canyon and the scenery is amazing . Would definitely go back .

Stayed here for 4 nights (in a casita). The facilities are very nice -- room, bath, hot tub. No complaints there. There are a number of good hikes you can take straight from the property, and the views are amazing. I had 5 spa services and they were all great -- wonderful, enthusiastic staff. I would definitely stay here again if I happened to be in the area, or was just looking to get some hiking in. I wouldn't seek it out, however, as a destination spa. They have a really limited schedule of classes, and very few that are actually a workout. I did the guided hike, but unlike other resorts, their hikes here are a one-size-fits-all activity, meaning that it barely qualified as a walk, much less exercise. When I'm at Miraval there are so many classes and activities I want to do I can barely fit them in. At Enchantment/Mii Amo, there was only one class I wanted to do out of a four-day stay (and I ended up walking out of it halfway through). If you want to go some place where you have an array of experiences to choose from and feel like one big happy family with the guests and staff, go to Miraval. If you want to have a ton of exercise classes to choose from and some really good lectures, go to Canyon Ranch! It also wound up being pretty pricy once you added in food and spa services (4 nights there cost us about $4500 each).

Thank you for taking time to write a review. We are sorry you were disappointed with the activities during your recent stay on the 4-Night Bed and Breakfast Package at Enchantment Resort. While both Enchantment and Mii amo Spa guests have access to our 15-20 activities per day; several do require advance reservations. Mii amo destination spa guests are booked on “journeys” that are all-inclusive and include 3 meals daily and two to three treatments per day plus activities. We hope you will return for a destination experience at Mii amo.

We spent five days here around New Year's, and while it was a bit colder than we had anticipated, the service and amenities made this a trip to remember. This was our first time visiting Sedona, and we loved the spacious "casita" we rented (two bedrooms, plus a Murphy bed in the living area and a small but functional kitchen). The views out our windows were breathtaking, and we slept deeply in the cool and quiet of the canyon.

All the members of the staff we met were terrific, and one especially appreciated service was the complementary golf cart pickups to other resort locations. One of us had knee problems during the trip, and being able to avoid walking the hills and paths (especially during one particularly slippery snowy evening) was a blessing.

We loved the food at the different restaurants, but stayed away from the fancy establishment since this was a family trip with teenagers. The only negative point we experienced were the activities: we tried to book one of several hiking/biking tours offered, but found out the whole week was booked solid before we even arrived. We would have booked in advance if we had known this was likely to happen, and were disappointed that additional tours couldn't be arranged. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Enchantment.

The setting and cabins are not fancy; but they are very comfortable and very private. The setting that nature provides here is enough – it is serene, beautiful, oh so quiet and naturally breathtaking. If you need a reprieve and a place to get away from it all; this is absolutely the best! The red rocks, the vortex, the dark skies and bright stars all provide what no fountains or sculptures can. There is plenty to do outside: hiking, tennis, croquet, a beautiful pool, hot tub and spa. I found the restaurant on site excellent as well.

Room Tip: The higher up, the better the view.

After several wonderful experiences at Enchantment, we were extremely disappointed on our last visit. Out of state friends were visiting and wanted to treat us to a bottle of wine at sunset. Just as we ordered our wine, the power went out and we sat in the dark drinking our wine. No offer was made of any complimentary appetizer(chips would have been fine) and nothing was mentioned about reducing the cost of the wine ($44.00). In fact, the waiter joked about perhaps not being able to run our guest's credit card due to the power outage. We were extremely surprised about the lack of customer service that is usually experienced at Enchantment. I only hope that guests that were staying there received some compensation for the inconvenience.

Please accept our sincere apologies and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our power did go out on December 8 and our maintenance team quickly identified the cause and repaired it. Power was restored within 90 minutes.

We have shared your experience with our restaurant staff and hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you.

We have stayed at Enchantment several times before. Always we loved the beautiful secluded location and exceptional service. The rooms, however, were getting a little tired. Over the past 2 years the resort has been completely renovated and rooms and public areas are now beautiful with modern Southwestern rather than rustic feel.

However, it is not the rooms that bring us to Enchantment. First it is the location: the canyon is a magical place with light playing on the red rocks during the day and luminous stars at night. You can see across the whole open valley from the veranda or by a short walk up a hill to a spot that is excellent to watch the dawn,

Second it is the exceptional service. A small but typical example of this is a waitress who spotted I had arrived too late for complemetary morning coffee and grabbed some from the restaurant without my even asking.

Beyond the great service, there are many excellent activities such as hiking, biking, lectures and yoga and the staff are full of enthusiasm for you to have a great time and learn something. Again going above and beyond, one of the yoga instructors saw I was interested in a particular set of stretches he had developed and brought them typed up to my room so I can practice at home.

An advantage for us of all the activities is that my husband can take things at a more relaxed pace while I squeeze in as many activities as possible. I think it would also be a good place for singles. Another advantage is that the resort doesn't mind muddy hikers and mountain bikers wandering through the lovely grounds. There are no disapproving looks but rather questions and suggestions for trails.

We are neutral overall on the food - the brunch is the most delicious anywhere, I love the food at the spa and the prickly pear margarita is not to be missed - but dinner in the main restaurant food is a bit heavy and salty for me. Another tiny niggle is that the internet in our room was still almost non existent, even after the renovation - but maybe thats a nudge to get outside.

Enchantment remains the most stunning, attentive yet relaxed hotel I have stayed in. I am always sad to leave. Its main disadvantage is that it stops us exploring other places as I can never wait to return.
