“Unexpected quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We had read the reviews and knew about the value but we had no idea how exceptional the room would be. Huge room, beautiful fireplace, and four poster bed, nice seating area, working Jacuzzi, what more can you ask for. Price is fantastic for the amenities, front desk staff we found to be terrific, and though breakfasts aren't included there is a terrific little café next the Inn. Overall for the money you can't beat it!

Had a great stay here recently. Big clean, newly decorated rooms in an easy location and great value....plety of food options nearby for lunch or dinner, just check with the staff.

Speaking of staff, everyone was great, apart from the front desk person, Francine. We were received when it was not busy, without a smile or welcome and when I was asked for passport and credit card, it was done coldly without a smile, but worse, without even looking at me. So when I said "come on, humour me....at least look me in the eye when you are taking my money".....her response was to glare at me for the rest of the interaction......icluding a frosty...."for the second time, yes", when I asked for reconfirmation that the Sedona Airport was a good place to see the sunset.

To the owner and/or manager......this is a great place and great value....but give Francine some customer service training or else place her in a role where she is not the "face" of your business.

Arrived in Sedona and had a look around. When it was time to check into our stay at The Desert Quail we had trouble locating it. In the end we phoned the reception and found out it was not in Sedona as such but in Oak Creek Village. 15 min drive (as quoted by receptionist) out of Sedona.
Not really a problem but should be advertised as this and not in Sedona. Comfortable bed and room plenty big. Laundry room was upstairs and for weary travelers like us, this was hard to go up and down several trips. Really nothing terrible.

Room Tip: Ate at the Marketplace Cafe and Bar across the road.. nice atmosphere great service, and excellent f...

Nothing but positive things to say about the Desert Quail Inn. Clean, comfortable and a great location. Rooms are very nicely decorated with comfortable beds. We were in a room with a fireplace which was especially nice on a chilly October night. Loved the fact that each room has an outside entrance - no long hallways. Walk to a grocery store and great little cafe right behind the property. Overall the best value and we would highly recommend The Desert Quail Inn to anyone and can't wait to return for another visit.

Rescheduled our plans to stay 2 nights during the government shutdown. Location was easy to find and the rates are very good for the top quality clean rooms. Upper Sedona is a 10 minute drive away and Desert Quail is located opposite a very helpful tourist information centre in Oak Creek. Red Rock Cafe is located right behind the Inn a great place for breakfast. Reception were very friendly and helpful providing good restaurant recommendations within walking distance - try PJ's sports bar and mix with some locals. We also enjoyed a drive out to Page Springs Cellars for a wine tasting flight with some lunch. Recommended.

Our experience at the Desert Quail Inn was very positive! We parked in front of the door to the room and upon entering, found a spacious, clean comfortable room with refrigerator: a nice surprise. The air conditioner was the quietest AC ever experienced in many hotel rooms. The noise from the occupants in the room above was noticeable initially, but it became quiet after a few minutes. Very good night's rest!

A no nonsense property that had location and all the basics we required for our 4-day stay in the area. Walking distance to all important travel shopping and eats. Oak Creek is half way between the interstate and downtown Sedona and offers a more reasonably priced alternative to how it goes up in Sedona itself. Super clean, and well maintained daily while we were out. Desert Quail rocks for the more budget minded traveler in this part of Arizona!

Room Tip: High Floor near stairs for less noise - no elevator.
