“Not Bad at All Actually”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

This is an old fashioned hotel in the design or layout, but surprise..it's been redone top to bottom and is quite nice. I'd rate it a solid 3-star and at the top among the smaller small town hotels. Rooms, beds, large screen TV's, bathrooms, sitting area, etc. are all well designed and relatively new. Pool area is quite nice. While we stayed only one night on our way to the Grand Canyon, we would have been quite happy to spend more time here. Ownership and staff were friendly and helpful. We were pleased...and the cost was modest (a bonus)

Although effectively just a motel this is a great place to stay for touring the Red Rocks area. Oak Creek village is about 5 miles South of Sedona so somewhat quieter. Reasonable rates and the room was clean and comfortable, with a comfortable bed, free WiFi and decent-sized fridge. (Some rooms are larger, with fireplaces). There was also a microwave. Pool area is not huge, and pool a bit small for swimming in, but probably welcome for a cool-off after a day walking the many trails in the area. Guests qualify for a 10% discount at Red Rock Cafe (almost next door), where they do an excellent breakfast. It is also close to a large supermarket and a couple of ATMs (neither of which charged me for withdrawals, somewhat unusual in USA where most of the big banks charge around $3). A short walk towards the centre brings you to the excellent PJ's pub, where the locals gather for a few beers, good chat and good food. Happy hour every evening early doors. We also dined at Market Place Cafe (not good, although other reviews would indicate otherwise) and Pago's Pizzeria (excellent, huge pizzas). Went on an excellent trip, The Broken Arrow Tour, with Pink Jeep Tours and visited Oak Creek brewery in Sedona, which has good pub snack food, provided by Simon's Hot Dogs. Definitely worth visiting 'Ghost Town' Jerome, about an hours drive away. Some great bars and wineries, and a bit of Arizona history, which although they are beautiful places to stay, both Oak Creek and Sedona are a little short on.

We read the comments on trip advisor and decided to stay. We were not disappointed. Its in a great location. About 15mins to down town Sedona. A grocery store right behind and a outlet mall across the road. Walking distance to great coffee and restaurants. A beautiful view and quiet. The room was updated and clean. Great bed and beautiful fireplace. The owner was very nice and helpful. We did not go in the pool but it looked really nice and clean. For a motel it was super great and the price was right. I would highly recommend it.

We made a reservation on the Trip Advisor App while in Flagstaff eating dinner. Rate was inexpensive and they had rooms available where many were sold out due to being graduation weekend. Desert Quail is on Hwy 179 and easy to find... when it's LIGHT out. Sedona isn't lit up like most places, so you have to keep an eye out.

The room was quite large and had the most comfortable bed of any hotel we stayed at. I'd highly recommend this place as the start (or end) to your Sedona sightseeing.

I liked this place very much. The location was great, near all the hikes but not in the Sedona central location and shopping area (if that's what you're looking for).
The room was big, clean and the price is very reasonable. We paid $270 for 3 nights including tax (or something like that). It's difficult to beat this price in beautiful Sedona. The owner seems like a nice guy, he was always going around the property to make sure everything is well. The pool looked pretty nice but we didn't use it.
It's located right on SR 179 which is an amazing route. Cathedral Rock is very close and in my opinion this location is better then commercial center.

Enjoyed our stay at Desert Quail Inn. Front desk gave us great advice on hiking and dining. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I think it's one of the best values in the area. Convenient to bell rock and cathedral rock hikes. Both restaurants that were recommended were excellent and reasonable. No complaints

We spent total of 3 nights. Nice family managing the place. Pool is very small but it backs up to a grocery store and breakfast place which is handy. There is a small outlet mall across the street with a nice restaurant for dinner. Not in the busy section of Sedona, that's about 15 minute drive North. Would stay there again

Room Tip: First floor as no elevators
