I travel to Arizona a great deal for my work and usually stay in high-end hotels and resorts in Phoenix. Check out my reviews and you'll see that some of them are pretty bad.
I was therefore very pleased with the Desert Quail in Sedona, where I spent three mid-winter nights while visiting friends and taking photographs of the glorious rock formations..
From check in to check out everything was just fine. Everything worked in my room, which was nicely cleaned and provisioned. The room was large and pleasant and the apples in the fridge made for a nice start of the day. Though there is no wireless internet in rooms, there is a computer for guests in the reception area and local dial in connections from my room worked perfectly.
This is my second overnight visit to Sedona. Last time there I stayed at the nearby La Quinta, which was ok and had wireless, but cost more and required I take a very long hike to my room.
The Desert Quail is by no means a resort hotel (it does have decent enough pool, closed in winter) but it is easy to reach from I-17 and away from some of the Sedona traffic and new age madness.
