This is a 2 diamond property for good reason. The staff is the best part ~~~ very nice. If you're looking for a place that has a lot to offer then this is NOT the place. The pool is nice but that is all there is to offer. I would not reccomment this motel if you're looking to visit Sedona ~~~ much to far from town and activities. Once the road construction gets done it will help but still not give you the Sedona feel.

“Not Bad for a 2-star Hotel”

Let me preface this review by saying that the Desert Quail is a 2 star hotel. If you are looking for a 4 star experience do not stay here. As long as you keep this in mind, I don't think you will be disappointed in what they have to offer. I would equate the Desert Quail to an older Hampton Inn.

The Positives:

The rooms had older furniture, but all was in good condition. The rooms also had a refrigerator and one of those single cup coffee makers which I always like.
The linens were clean and of decent quality, the room was also very clean.
Inexpensive rooms for what tends to be a very expensive area.

The Negatives:

The walls are thin and on top of being able to hear your neighbors you can also hear some road noise.
The A/C unit was really loud. The upside to that is that it helped drown out the road noise, but if you are a light sleeper it could be an issue.

We just got back from a Easter holiday vacation and stayed at the Desert Quail Inn. The staff was friendly and the rooms are clean and decorated nicely. Our only complaint was the construction work on the road. We expected feel the vortex and energy vibes, but didn't..perhaps the construction ruined it.

“If the sights are your focus then you might not notice the room”

During our recent trip to Sedona, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas we stayed in many hotels. The Desert Quail Inn, while affordable for the Sedona area, wasn't quite what was described. Upon check-in we were told we were going into one of the newly renovated rooms. When we entered the room, we tried to hard to determine what had been renovated, as it had the look of any other low/mid-end hotel. The bed was very comfortable, so that may have been new (?). The internet site listed the room with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot, our room was minus the microwave. There was no breakfast on the premises, but the hotel had put a complimentary fruit basket in the frig (two apples and two oranges).
On the plus side, it was quiet and we enjoyed sitting out on the front balcony in the evenings. There was an internet cafe just behind the hotel, although neither the front clerk nor the in-room information mentioned it. The restaurant across the street, which required a bit of work to locate in the shopping plaza, was very good. Which leaves us with an overall average impression.

This is nothing more than a roadside motel. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean, but I don't see what the fuss is all about. I had such high expectations due to all the reviews I read, and we almost checked out because it really is just a budget motel. The pool was standard and had some deck chairs which were nice. None of the rooms have windows facing away from the parking lot, so there is absolutely NO VIEW. The grocery store nearby was convenient. The outlet mall wasn't nothing to write home about. You had to drive so far from town on curvy roads so you really couldn't have a drink with dinner. This place is fine for budget travelers and families...but couples, please think twice if you're truly on vacation and want something remotely romantic. Pay a little extra so you can be near downtown and have a nice view.

If you must stay here, please eat at the Brooklyn Cafe...their sourdough pancakes and bagel sandwiches were awesome!!! Also, for a romantic and delicious dining experience, go to Cucina Rustica. Both places are nearby and are a must if you're in the Oak Creek area.
