Stayed here for 2 nights in May 2008. Rooms were very good having been recently renovated and inlcude a Plasma. Staff were very helpfull and we appreciated the free internet access. Complimentary breakfast was basic but fine for what we were looking for. Price was a bit expensive when compared to other hotels on our 3 week road trip but I gather Sedona in general is expensive.

Overall a very pleasant experience in both Sedona and the Hotel.

It was such a pleasure staying/dealing with the staff at the Southwest Inn of Sedona starting with when they answer the phone. I had several questions before booking so I made my reservation directly with the hotel and it was very nice when someone answered promptly instead of a recording. My flight was delayed so I was going to get to Sedona very late. I called and the staff was wonderful providing precise directions due to road closures and having ice in my room upon arrival. The rooms are appealing, spacious and the beds are nice and comfortable. The staff was also very helpful matching my food preferences with local restaurants. Oh, the view from the Southwest Inn parking lot is even spectacular. A very nice all-around travel experience for me.

“Sadly, it wasn't what we were expecting...”

Southwest Inn at Sedona

I was really excited and looking forward to my stay at this Inn. We arrived and discovered that the room that we paid 200+ a night for was straight over the pool and directly across from the dumpster (and at 6:42AM the morning after we arrived, we were abruptly awakened by the clanging and banging of the trash pickup at these dumpsters.) The balcony was nearly at eye level with electric and phone and cable wires. This made for a very disappointing "room with a view" that we thought we were paying for at this HIGH cost!
The "free internet" was intermittent - one minute it was working, another minute it was not. You could see daylight under the door, where the door meets the door jamb. If they would "weather proof" the place, perhaps they'd save in utility bills and not have to charge such prices. But for a room that should have had an awesome view obstructed by wires, it was disheartening. I won't go back; instead, I'll make wiser choices next time I'm in Sedona - which by the way, is an absolutely awesome place. If you are a photographer, then you know what a "room with a view" should be!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Would have been the balcony, but being over the pool, staring at the dumpster area, and the wires running across - it was a bad experience.
    • Disliked — Would be nice if room with a view didnt incorporate a pool, electric/cable/etc. wires, and a dumpster clanking at 6:42AM right out the door!!!

Our vacation was going down the tubes quickly, due to a combination of weather and other circumstances. We called the folks at the Southwest Inn and asked if we could change our reservation to accommodate an early arrival.

They bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. Our room was gorgeous, they were tremendously friendly, and everything was great!

One way you can judge a place is how they handle things when something goes wrong. We had a couple of minor issues, and everything was handled speedily and without fuss. No over-apologizing, no excuse-making.

I'll certainly be staying there again. And again!

“Beeeautiful Sedona, Fantastic Hotel!”

I´m pretty anal when it comes to booking hotels, now that I'm approaching my 40's. I was always ready to throw down a towel or jacket and sleep on train station floors (or outside train stations) for a free night's stay in my 20's. However, now, especially after a few hours of hiking in the Southwest sun, I need a place to feel pampered without feeling like I handed over my life's savings.

I would choose Southwest Inn again in a heartbeat! Set against the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, this hotel offers comfort, relaxation, great service, and wonderful breakfast (included...yay!) just a few minutes outside of the bustling, touristy town center along 89A. My boyfriend, who is very finicky, proclaimed this hotel "the best hotel we've stayed in so far" during our 1 week trip.

Our check-in went smoothly at the front desk. We entered our room, and were welcomed to coolness (the aircon was on, thank goodnes) and soothing music. The fireplace was tempting, but it was too hot to use it. The bathroom is spacious enough for two, with both a jacuzzi bathtub on the right, which we didn't use, and large shower on the left. The bed, facing the flatscreen TV, was big and comfy after a day of hiking the canyon. Although the hotel is along 89A (ours was right beside the the office on the first floor), we were not really bothered by traffic. We couldn't really hear anything at night.

Breakfast was a nice surprise. Lots of variety: fresh fruit, 4 different types of cereal, oatmeal, lots of different drinks, including coffee, hot chocolate, juices, toast, eggs and sausage you can heat up yourself, and, best of all, a waffle maker with the batter all measured for you! There is also small library with books and magazines there, and USA today is available every morning in the front office.

There are 3 computer stations with internet (freealicious) by the cafeteria, which was a big bonus for my business man. Printing is available, too. You just have to pick up your stuff at the front desk.

Some tips: D'lish, a vegetarian place just a 1-2 minute walk from the hotel, serves up veggie dishes from 11-8 everyday. WONDERFUL!!!!! The Barking Frog, a few minutes further away by car, was recommended, but I would just say it was "OK".

Definitely hike Red Rock Canyon. Incredible scenery. Entrance fee is 8 dollars, I think. Drive up to Jerome to check out the old minery and have lunch at Grapes after shopping around the charming little town. Wonderful food there. If you have some extra money, you can check out the scenery with Red Rock Balloons, a hot air balloon company. It was a little pricey, but was well worth it.

Overall, this hotel was a very pleasant surprise. We would definitely stay here again. We're already spreading the word to our friends here in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Can't wait to go back!
