We just returned from a weekend trip from Sedona. We were looking for some place casual, but yet different. We ate in the grille-as we were in jeans. This isn't your "typical" Mexican restaurant with paper napkins. If you're looking for the standard taco, enchilada, tostada, this is NOT the place. Our waiter was friendly, and the place was semi-busy. But we were well attended to, and our dishes were great! We started out with the cheese fundido (ask for more chips). My husband had the grilled swordfish, and I had the shrimp tamales. Apparently, they had just changed the menu. Everything was fresh, nicely presented. The margaritas we had were awesome-used Patron, which limited me to one. We would definitely go back. And we found this place by just driving by.

We had a nice dining experience at the Barking Frog. We were exhausted from a long day of flying and driving to Sedona, and ready for an easy meal and and early night.

Dinner was very good, the food was high quality and well prepared. We had a blackened tuna steak which was cooked to perfection.

Service was friendly and able, the food came quickly, but we weren't rushed at all.

My wife and I went here based on the recommendation from our concierge. We were looking for great Tex-Mex/Southwestern fare. We arrived to find our concierge had made reservations for us at "The Reserve at Barking Frog." The menu was upscale and interesting but NOT Tex-Mex/Southwestern. We then found out from our waiter that the fare we sought was available in "The Grille at Barking Frog" (another part of the restaurant). We asked to be reseated and the staff couldn't have looked more displeased. We were sent back out to the hostess stand to wait. We were the only one's out there (it wasn't even busy and this is 8pm Friday!) and after waiting for a few minutes the hostess who just sat us in the other part of the restaurant asks if we're waiting to be seated. Duh! Then they walked us into a crappy table at the bar even though there were plenty of nice outdoor tables available. Nobody approached us for at least 10 minutes and when the waitress did arrrive she was unprofessional (What can we getcha?). I ordered the carne asada fajita's: worst I've ever had. Wife had pork adobo: decent but nothing to write home about. We have much better comparators in Seattle for God's sake! Having put myself through school waiting tables I know how it's suppose to work from here and here's what happened: no post-entree satisfaction check, waitress gossiping with locals at the bar throughout, check delivered long after we finished but before our plates were cleared. I NEVER tip less than 20% and she got 10% which was gracious in my opinion. We couldn't get out of there faster. I think the opinions on this site may be skewed to the positive because they are reviewing the Reserve. Can't comment on that but certainly avoid "the Grille". It goes into my "Worst Vacation Dining Experiences Hall of Shame."

The interior is attractive. The service is good. The beer is good. But the food is just terrible. The nachos were served with picante sauce that came from a jar. The black beans were as bland as could be. The chile verde was tasteless. I've had much better meals for $5 from a truck in Cambridge, MA. This place is like Chili's with a nicer interior and higher prices.
