“Just Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Elote had been recommended by several people and it did not disappoint. There was a line for the 5:00 PM opening but they started seating people by 4:45. We did order the Elote appetizer which was fantastic. Our entrees were wonderful as were the flight of margaritas! We split the chocolate pie infused with chili that was phenomenal. Elote was more expensive than the run of the mill Mexican restaurants but it was far superior and worth the splurge! The views do the red rocks was spectacular.

“Excellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

This was our fourth dinner at Elote, and the experiences have been consistently excellent -- delicious food and pleasant service. We will certainly return every time we're anywhere near Sedona. And don't miss the chocolate chile pie (ask for it a la mode to make it even better)!

“Mixed Review”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

A unique place that I would say wasn't worth the wait. 5 People in our party. 2 Loved it, 3 found the food poor. All 3 had the same dish, the Snapper Vera Cruz. It was a dish I've had many times and always enjoyed but the fish was tasteless. The other 2 had the braised lamb and pork cheeks. All agreed the dessert was mediocre and the waiter took it off the bill.

Overall, if you want great Mexican food in Arizona, I'd head to Tuscon not Sedona.

“Unique Great Mexican food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013 via mobile

We were visiting Sedona with family and wanted to go to a restaurant to celebrate a special event. On a previous trip, we ate here, and we knew that this was the place we most wanted to share with our immediate family, our three adult children and their spouses.

No one was disappointed. The food here is prepared in unique ways using ingredients that are unique. For the eight of us, we tried four different appetizers, so we all could sample a variety. My favorite was the Fundido de Charro. This is melted cheese skillet with homemade chorizo, roasted pork, and rajas. Several others thought that the Elote was the best. This is their signature appetizer which is made with fire roasted corn with spicy mayo, lime and Cotija cheese.

As with the appetizers, everyone enjoyed the entrees. Although we were full, we did sample two desserts which were shared among all of us. It was a most wonderful experience. I am so glad that we did this.

I might add that we had about an hour wait, but it was well worth it. Even when we left, there were still people coming to put their name on the waiting list. This is truly one of the most popular restaurants in Sedona.

“Forget Elote”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We were excited to try Elote. I had gone online and looked at the menu, which looked interesting. That's where everything ended for us. The wait was for 1 hour and 10 minutes on hard chairs outside on their patio. The only option for an "appetizer" was popcorn while we were waiting, which was somewhat stale. Their salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce with no flavor. I had the Pollo en Pipian Rojo and my husband had the Carne Asada. We were both extremely disappointed in the taste. They both were so bland and my chicken was tough. The service was OK but, we won't go back there.
