My wife and I went on the late afternoon trail ride and cookout with singing cowboys. I had expected that on the trail that there would be some educational component. But the two guys who came with us were nice enough, polite and helpful if we had a question, but didn't volunteer any information about the local flora and fauna. In fact one of the two barely spoke at all. We rode single file for an hour, never stopping for to see anything. The scenery was beautiful and I would have like to stop and take some closeup pictures of some of the cactus that I had not seen before. I had expected the cookout would be on the trial hike or that we would be heading to somewhere on the trail were we would eat at a campfire cowboy style. But no, we headed in a one hour loop back to the place where we started and then took a van to a near by structure where we sat under a roof and someone cooked steaks on a brick grill. The food was great but the feeling was like a Sunday picnic back home. There was an older gentleman who sang great cowboy songs and seemed genuinely interested in connecting with the group. He was fun and it would have been better if the ranch has sprung for a microphone for the poor guy and maybe a fiddle player. All in all, I felt that the M Diamond Ranch was an over-price under-fun and under-educational experience. They seem to think all they need to do is put the people on the horses and keep them safe for an hour of walking but they are missing out on developing their tour to be much more interesting and entertaining. I didn't know cowboys were so uncreative.

The M Diamond Ranch takes pride in maintaining our authenticity. We are a working cattle ranch located down a dirt road in the Coconino National Forest. When you join us here on the ranch your going to be meeting, speaking and riding with the whole ranch family. We feel there is no better way for our guests to learn about our cattle, horses and the true western way of life. Our rides our guided by experienced ranch raised wranglers and we feel it is imperative that our guests receive our old fashioned one on one customer service!
We apologize to this guest for feeling they did not receive an educational ride. Unfortanately, after reviewing our past reservations I am still unable to find this guests name or any information, therefore I am unable to contact them to apologize personally. After returning on our ride, our guests take a horse drawn wagon ride to our cook out site, weather permitting. We do focus on our guests safety as it is imperitive, especially when our guests range in age from 6 yrs to as old as 88. (record year to date!)
