It was serendipity. We were on a tour of the Grand Canyon and surrounding sites. Our shuttle to Sedona got us to the city about half-an-hour after our jep tour was scheduled to depart. The friendly staff fixed the problem with a minimum of fuss, andwe were rescheduled for a noon departure. Lucky for us we missed the original departure, because iour guide was the inimitable"Tumbleweed Tom". Outfitted in western garb, including hat and boots, he first checked for any possible health issues (back problems in particular), made sure we buckled ourselves snugly and away we went. TT was friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and simply fun to be with. He told us about the history of the town, the flora, the geologic history, and was just a pleasure to be with.If you do the jeep tour, he would be the guide to request.
A caveat, though. The ride through the desert area is very rough. But even this 63 year old could take it in stride. Water is also provided during the tour.
