“All That and Then There's the View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Our second stay here. Located in West Sedona with great access to area sites. Walk inside the unit (two bedroom) and open the drapes. A view that will make your jaw drop every morning and evening. Quite location about a block off the main road. Our first day, we were greeted by a rainbow over the red rocks. The pool is located just a short trip down the concrete path. The office and center is there, also. There are several presentations by the local activity reps. The best is the presentation by Bryan, who is a Navajo. He is the most informing of all the reps regarding the indian nations. His humor is very timely and we enjoyed his presentation immensely.

We were just there for a 7 night stay and had a wonderful time! Our condo had a great view of the Red Rocks and the amenities are great. Staff was very attentive and friendly! Will definitely be returning to this resort.

We stayed 5 nights at the Wyndham in July and had a great experience overall. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and each of the buildings blend into their desert - Red Rock surroundings in a very natural way. The activity center is a great place for kids (game room, gym, etc) and includes a variety of things (movies, demonstrations, etc.) to keep people of all ages happy.

The two bedroom unit was nicely furnished, maybe a bit dated, but well taken care of overall. The master bedroom bath had a Jacuzzi tub which was a great feature. The kitchen is equipped with all the tools and comforts of home.

Most units have a good view looking out at the landscaped grounds and Red Rocks. Unfortunately, we were in an end unit that looked through the trees at a home improvement - lumber yard. So, it was noisy in the morning and not the most scenic. When asked if we could move, they told us that there was no other place to go. The other downside was the parking... every night we had to park two buildings down and lug our stuff back and forth.

The staff was very pleasant to work with, especially at check-in. Just beware that they try to hook you into a timeshare presentation when you are there. Kindly tell them no thanks unless you are trying to get some type of free or low cost promotion (such as discount or free jeep rides, etc.).

Room Tip: Request rooms closer to the activity center on the main level, or ones that do not overlook the home...

Could not fault our four day stay in August. Apartment was beautiful and the kids loved the pool and the entertainment provided. Good running machines at the gym with a nice view of the mountains. Very well kept resort with real attention to detail and great customer service that goes that extra mile.

We booked 3 nights at this resort through Vacation Strategy, which manages the Wyndham properties. I was a bit apprehensive because we had to pay for the condo in full at the time of booking, but I did my homework and found good reviews for the company. Our rate was less than we'd spend in a hotel, and we had a tremendous amount of room. We had 3 beds plus a sleeper sofa, 2 large bathrooms, and a full kitchen. It was nice to have some groceries and not eat every meal in a restaurant. The location was beautiful, and I would absolutely stay here again. I will also use Vacation Strategy again in the future.

Room Tip: The pool was a bit chilly for me, but the kids didn't mind at all.

First I have to say that I am a Wyndham owner. I have stayed at this property before and was really looking forward to taking a bunch of my family here. The rooms are well equipped with dishes, cookware, glassware..... things you expect from a timeshare. The pool is good sized and has a hot tub that holds up to 6 pretty comfortably. The grounds are pretty well cared for. There were issues with the Bar-B-Q's because of the fire danger. They covered all the regular grills (which use charcoal) and instead had propane bar-b-q's spread around the property. [This was also the case at the Wyndham Flagstaff... which is another review]. But I do understand that no one wants a fire because of negligent cookers. [This was also during the time period in which 19 firefighters lost their lives fighting a blaze in the Prescott area].

So now for the negatives..... we had a 2 bedroom unit and it turned out to be a handicap accessible unit. The minute we walked into the unit it had a bad smell. We thought maybe there had been smokers staying before us. (this is a non-smoking property) But after walking around the unit, it is possible it might have just been the moisture in the carpets from the showers. Terrible design.... the handicap accessible showers allow a wheel chair to roll in (and also the water to flow out.... right onto the bathroom floor and eventually the carpet outside the bathroom). No drain outside the shower, which is badly needed. We complained and were stuck in this unit for the first night since there were no other rooms available.

The other issue we had was the delayed check in. We as the owners (Platinum VIP in Wyndham's program) were the last to get a room. We had 5 units total reserved and not only did they stick us in the handicap room, we were the last to get a room. I will give credit to the one person who tried to help us Kimberly but she was working alone and some of it was out of her hands. The next day when we went to get our other room we were met with a rude staff member who made it seem like we were making their live miserable.

Once we got another room the vacation got a lot better. I do want to give credit to Kim, the assistant manager, who did follow up with our complaints afterwards and issued us a certificate for another stay at a Wyndham property.

So if I have one room tip.... if you are assigned room 1316... run!! Unless you need a handicap unit. Ask for the 1100 building. It has the best view of the Red Rocks.

Room Tip: Again... avoid room 1316. Ask for a unit in the 1100 building... best views of the Red Rocks.
