“Marginally OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

Traveling with a cat we have found for the most part that La Quintas work out just fine. This one was marginally OK. The front desk was cordial when we checked in and our room was clean. However, both the hall and our room had a musty smell. Breakfast is served in a room located off the pool. Limited selection and crowded but it was the beginning of the tourist season. We had a good rate and only stayed one night. Would we return? Probably not. The rooms on the back side of the hotel do have a view of Bell Rock which was nice.

The Lady at the front desk seemed more annoyed Then in a Greeting Mood, and to Tell the Truth I Tried to Avoid the Front Desk after that Greeting I Got. Room's are not to big and very Bland,I think the room's are that way because I was told when Booking or Rather Trying to book on the phone That All who travel with their pet stay on the ground floor. Not told there would be No Carpeting in the room's, We Have a Little Shih Tzu That he sleep's on his little blanket on the bed with us and when he wake's he jump's down off the bed We have Carpeting at home and He was Not ready when he hit the floor and slid across the room in to the wall OUCH.I Laughed but the Wife didn't think it was as funny as I did. But I was Told It was better for me to Book on line that it would be easier for both of us. Breakfast Room was Clean but Again Food Was Very Bland and Not Much of a Selection and It Felt More Like a Self Serve Jack in a Box. Stayed 3 day's and The Only Hot Food was the Waffle's cause you made them, Biscuit's and Gravy was Cold as was the Egg's but the only egg's was Hard Boiled. I did not like the Idea that My Wife having a bad hip and that I wasn't allowed to take anything to our room for her from the Breakfast room. In Other La Quinta Inn's I have No Problem doing this for her. All In All Not bad for the Money But I Did expect better as I Stay at The Inn's Normally When We Travel to CA and was just a little Disappointed. I Try to Look for A La Quinta Inn when We Travel, But I will Look Elsewhere if Traveling back to Sedona. Not Being an Old Grump just being Honest.

Room Tip: Don't travel to Sedona AZ with Your Pet, and maybe if you stay on the upper floor's The room...

Had all of the basics - free wifi, clean rooms, etc. Definitely needs a re-model and the hallways have kind of a funny smell, but if you are on a budget it is a place to sleep without having to worry about safety or cleanliness. The room we stayed in was pretty large. I would recommend this hotel to someone who does not need a 5-star hotel and wants to save their travel money to experience the great attractions in the area instead.

Overall, we had a good experience here. It is a great location, especially to Bell Rock. You can walk there! We had a great breakfast as well. When we were going to leave, the lady at the front refused to give us a receipt because (according to her paperwork) said we booked through orbitz (even though we booked right on the lq website)....after a few minutes of being persistent that we wanted a receipt, she gave in and printed us one. I've never heard of a hotel that refuses to print a receipt upon request. Other than that experience, we had a great stay.

La Quinta Inns are known for budget accommodations, and this Inn did not disappoint. The decor is a bit shabby, the carpets in room had seen better days, but the prices are reasonable. The hotel has a lot of pluses. It is not directly in Sedona, and so the circus atmosphere of that city is avoided. You also avoid the atmospheric prices of Sedona, whilst being within a beautiful ride the toen and all the area's attractions. Another plus is the lovely breakfast area in the pool room..you must walk out of the main hotel building to reach this separate building. The breakfast boasts real crockery,2 waffle makers, gravy, bisquits, cereals, oranges and apples, muffins toast and oatmeal. Much better than a Comfort Inn. The hotel is also in a residential area, so it is near shopping and restaurants that are not a ripoff. There is a nearby Subway. There is free wifi, an outdoor pool, and laundry facilities

If you travel with pets, this hotel accepts them. For me, that is not a plus. There was a dog left unattended and barking during my stay, and I called the desk. They were solicitous, aware of the situation and it was resolved before bed time.

To summarize, this will not be an exotic experience, but it is a reasonable budget chain hotel. If you are looking for a non-chain alternative, I noted the "Wildflower Inn" right down the road, looked intriguing. You might want to check it out..

The clerk was friendly but totally confused, and we had some problems just to get a room.
When we finally got the room, and went there, it was a big room and had what you needed, but the air-con didn't worked probably and was really noisy, and the bathroom smelled of urine.
The sleep was interrupted a lot of times, cause the place was noisy
Breakfast was not so good, especially compared to other La Quinta Inn's.

Last of all, it was way to expensive, so a bad experience, La Quinta concern, should shake up the personal at that place.

Room Tip: Find another place to stay.

The room was nice sized and clean. A free breakfast was included which didn't have eggs or sausage, but they at least had biscuits and gravy and waffles. Location was good for seeing the sites. There was a great Thai restaurant in the shopping strip right next door.
