Sedona itself is one of the most beautiful places in the world - peaceful and very relaxing. Our stay at the Dream Maker really completed our experience. We are a group of girls in our mid-late twenties and were traveling with the intention of getting away from our busy lives and spending some quality time together.

The Dream Maker is set back off Hwy 179 in a residential neighborhood, but manages to feel private and secluded as the property is shaded with trees and delicate landscaping creating the feel of being nestled in the mountains.

Phil greeted us and gave a brief "tour" of the common area and our room. We stayed in the Pinon Pine Suite which has it's own patio/sitting area with a hammock, two hanging chairs, rocking chair, etc. The room felt very cozy. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom very large - w/ a sink, toilet, stand up shower (w/ curtain) and two person jetted tub. There were plenty of towels, body wash, lotion, etc. Side note: the countertop in the bathroom is very high (i didn't mind it) but if you are very short, you may wish to request a step stool...there may have been one in our room somewhere?

We also got to check out the Victorian Suite which has a HUGE bed w/ a matress topper that looked very luxurious!

The common area includes a dining table, sitting couch, sink and refrigerator for your use. After reading about Dee's favorite recipes online, we were looking forward to a real treat - but unfortuantely she did not not make any of the recipes posted. I have stayed at a few other BB's and one other in Sedona. Breakfast was definitely great, but not outstanding. We were served home made banana nut muffins (delicious), eggs, sausage and a fresh fruit in yogurt w/ granola. The second morning we were served Breakfast Pie which was eggs, sausage, avocado, etc...in a pie crust. It was served again with the banana nut muffin and fruit/yogurt/granola. Being that I rarely get to each much more than cereal in the mornings, the breakfasts were super, I can't complain. They were delicious and very filling. There was also fresh orange juice and coffee available. It just all depends on what you are expecting :)

The inn keepers were also very friendly and helpful with regard to offering up restaurant recommendations and things to do. As suggested by Phil....I HIGHLY recommend the Cowboy Club (Silver Saddle Room) for dinner and also Cuchina Rustica, which is just across the street from the Dream Maker. We had truly OUTSTANDING dinners at both restaurants. A very fine dining experience, reasonable prices and exceptional food.

Overall....the Dream Maker was a very peaceful experience and we would most definitely return. In fact, we can't wait to go back!

“Spiritual Awakening”

Sedona Dream Maker Bed & Breakfast

Jun 24, 2007

To me, the Dream Maker B and B of Sedona AZ, offers a gateway to a spiritual energy. I had never known before the power with in the area of Sedona until I slept at the Dream Maker Inn. I felt an unknown peaceful energy that changed me forever. The owners, Phil and Dee Winklestern, gave such wonderful hospitality and good friendship, with a great education of the area.. Mr. Winklestern gave my husband and I jeep tours and showed us many indian scared sites and taught us so much about the Native Americans of AZ. His wisdom was noted and shared to my friends. The energy I recieved was during our first nights stay at the Dream Maker BandB.. I can not explain the gift my husband and I both received. One would have to experience it themselves. But there is a power that you will always have and carry. At this Dream Maker BandB, we got to relax and enjoy the beauty around us as we sat on the upper deck. The stars at night were so clear that you thought you could touch them. The air was so fresh and the plants blossoming with new growth smelt so sweet. The breeze was peaceful. The owners respect the Indians way of life at the Dream Maker, which I myself respected. You will hear a flute played by Mr. Winklestern at times as he welcomes the new day or you might hear a music cd near by of Native music. Near by is an art Gallary created by Dee Winklestern. There, one will discover crystals, art, and elegant necklaces, bracelets and other fine jewelry. All created in the shop there.. My only concern there, was the noise of the constraction near by. Once we parked at the Dream Maker, we realized, you do not hear the construction at all. It is peaceful and beautiful. We will be going back in 4 months. I believe everyone should go to the Dream Maker to collect the energy. I also believe to be refreshed with new energy, one should repeat their visit. You will be blessed for doing so.

Los Angeles
Jun 22, 2007

I came to Sedona to escape the concrete jungle of Los Angeles, needing to clear my head and reconnect with the earth, myself and what is truly important in life. I found the Dream Maker online and booked three days with Phil and Dee. Given their perfect location, a few miles away from the tourist area of Sedona, I rested in the hammock, drank in the beauty of the view and meditated in the Teepee each day in the quiet of the early morning. The sun came up at 5am and I was WIDE-awake! And I am NOT a morning person. After hiking all day, I soaked in the claw foot tub and the enormous bed in the elegant Victorian Room embraced me in piles of comfort and I drifted off to dreamland each night. Phil and Dee were wonderful hosts who shared fascinating details of the area and of the local Native American culture. They sent me packing with fruit and donuts to secluded hiking trails and energy vortexes where I sat in meditation and listened for guidance. Everywhere I went I got messages from the beauty of my surroundings.

However, the biggest gift came right on the Sedona Dream Maker property. Phil and Dee built a Labyrinth on the property, in which you can do a walking meditation. If you haven’t done this before, it’s quite simple and lovely. Before you start to walk the Labyrinth, ask a question that is on your mind and know that by the time you get to the middle the question will be answered. Simply mull over the question as you slowly walk the lazy, winding path. When I got to the middle of the Labyrinth, I sat on the rock there and meditated some more. Although I am very spiritual and know that we are guided from the other side, I have always been afraid to see my angels and spirit guides; an old fear of ghosts from watching all those horror movies as a child, I suppose. However, at this moment in the Labyrinth, under a dusk sky full of gray clouds, I felt very centered and I said out loud that I was ready… I am now ready to see and hear guidance from my spirit guides and fairies and all the magical little creatures that help me from the other side. Then my eye caught a pretty desert flower in the Labyrinth and I raised my camera to take a picture. On the screen I saw little flashes of light, kind of like someone had just thrown silver confetti through a shaft of light. I looked again and the flecks of light were gone and I snapped “this” picture. I have attached it. I truly believe this picture is a picture of one of my spirit guides. It is obviously not a ray of sun based on it’s shape, plus it was 5pm and cloudy; I also doubt that it is my thumb or the camera strap (no matter how clumsy I can be) because you can see through it. I sat there for a long time and gazed at the picture, excited and so very grateful. I couldn’t wait to show Phil and Dee.

The next morning over a delicious breakfast, we chatted at length about my 6 hours of hiking and my spiritual experience in the Labyrinth. Dee and I shared a little joyful cry while Phil dragged a book off the shelf in which there were many other pictures similar to mine of “sightings” of Spirits in Sedona. It was such a magical and mystical adventure to be there at the Sedona Dream Maker, I cannot recommend a better place to experience a vacation with a sprinkle of magic!! I can’t wait to return “home” again very soon.

Happy journeying!!

This is the first B&B that I have stayed at that, when out for the day exploring, I couldn't wait to return to Dream Maker. We chose this B&B to meet up with a cousin that we have not had contact with for 50 years. What a perfect location for a successful re-union. Our room "Tuctu" was amazing. The breakfasts were an absolute feast. We watched the sun set and the moon rise from the deck which was magical, as is the whole place. Phil and Dee made us so welcome. We will be back.

If you like hiking during the day, and a warm comfortable bed at night, then the Dream Maker is the Paradise you are looking for. I truly believe God led me to their website in 2003 when I first stayed their with friends. I mentioned to Phil and Dee that first trip, that If I was to ever to fall in love again, I wanted to bring my wife to the Dream Maker for my Honeymoon and in 2006 I did just that. Teri and I are both avid hikers and just love the Dream Maker's location and amenities.

Directly behind the Dream Maker is one of Sedona's best kept secrets, Wild Horse Massa. The view from up there is breathtaking and in my opinion the best in Oak Creek Village. The 45 - 60 minute hike takes you to an elevation higher than the airport. From the top you can see the Red Rock come alive as the sun rises and then watch the hot air balloons slowly float upwards out of the valley bellow. I can't remember a time in my life when I have been more at peace than those mornings spent on top of Wild Horse. You can hike it in the morning and still make it back in time for Dee's wonderful breakfast creations. Stuffed French Toast is my favorite. Sorry Dee they will be asking for it now. The top of the Massa also makes for a wonderful multiple hour hike through the dessert flora and lava rock formations.

You can also hike directly from the Dream Maker to Bell Rock and Court House rock and the multiple trails that encircle them. When you return from a long days hike or site seeing, relax in a nice Jacuzzi bath in at least 2 of the rooms, but before you go to bed you must go atop the observation deck and observe the desert night sky full of stars. Phil's Telescope also helps bring in the planets. If you lucky enough as I was, you can time your visit to see the Full Moon rising over Wild Horse.

If you also like to jog or run, the surrounding village and golf course offers you a very safe and challenging run with a view that is, well, why you came to Sedona. I also recommend that you allow Phil to take you on a jeep ride. His customized rides are much more personal and enjoyable than the large commercial jeep tours down town.
But before you leave, you must pay a visit to Dee's gallery. My family and friends have loved the glass crosses we have brought home. You will also love the characters she makes out of the leaves of the Century plant. Whether you are a hiker or not I can't imagine a place in Sedona better than the Dream Maker to make your vacation dreams come true.....Jim and Teri Jamestown NY We can't wait to return.
