I came to Sedona to escape the concrete jungle of Los Angeles, needing to clear my head and reconnect with the earth, myself and what is truly important in life. I found the Dream Maker online and booked three days with Phil and Dee. Given their perfect location, a few miles away from the tourist area of Sedona, I rested in the hammock, drank in the beauty of the view and meditated in the Teepee each day in the quiet of the early morning. The sun came up at 5am and I was WIDE-awake! And I am NOT a morning person. After hiking all day, I soaked in the claw foot tub and the enormous bed in the elegant Victorian Room embraced me in piles of comfort and I drifted off to dreamland each night. Phil and Dee were wonderful hosts who shared fascinating details of the area and of the local Native American culture. They sent me packing with fruit and donuts to secluded hiking trails and energy vortexes where I sat in meditation and listened for guidance. Everywhere I went I got messages from the beauty of my surroundings.
However, the biggest gift came right on the Sedona Dream Maker property. Phil and Dee built a Labyrinth on the property, in which you can do a walking meditation. If you haven’t done this before, it’s quite simple and lovely. Before you start to walk the Labyrinth, ask a question that is on your mind and know that by the time you get to the middle the question will be answered. Simply mull over the question as you slowly walk the lazy, winding path. When I got to the middle of the Labyrinth, I sat on the rock there and meditated some more. Although I am very spiritual and know that we are guided from the other side, I have always been afraid to see my angels and spirit guides; an old fear of ghosts from watching all those horror movies as a child, I suppose. However, at this moment in the Labyrinth, under a dusk sky full of gray clouds, I felt very centered and I said out loud that I was ready… I am now ready to see and hear guidance from my spirit guides and fairies and all the magical little creatures that help me from the other side. Then my eye caught a pretty desert flower in the Labyrinth and I raised my camera to take a picture. On the screen I saw little flashes of light, kind of like someone had just thrown silver confetti through a shaft of light. I looked again and the flecks of light were gone and I snapped “this” picture. I have attached it. I truly believe this picture is a picture of one of my spirit guides. It is obviously not a ray of sun based on it’s shape, plus it was 5pm and cloudy; I also doubt that it is my thumb or the camera strap (no matter how clumsy I can be) because you can see through it. I sat there for a long time and gazed at the picture, excited and so very grateful. I couldn’t wait to show Phil and Dee.
The next morning over a delicious breakfast, we chatted at length about my 6 hours of hiking and my spiritual experience in the Labyrinth. Dee and I shared a little joyful cry while Phil dragged a book off the shelf in which there were many other pictures similar to mine of “sightings” of Spirits in Sedona. It was such a magical and mystical adventure to be there at the Sedona Dream Maker, I cannot recommend a better place to experience a vacation with a sprinkle of magic!! I can’t wait to return “home” again very soon.
Happy journeying!!
