My boyfriend and I planned a 2 day trip at the end of July to celebrate his birthday. The Dream Maker was so amazing and relaxing that we booked an extra night! Phil was one of the nicest men we have ever met and his wife Dee was also extremely kind although we did not see her much.
We stayed in the Victorian Suite and we loved it! The king sized bed with feather mattress was so comfortable and the room was adorably decorated. The bathroom had a claw foot tub that both my boyfriend and I took advantage of!
Breakfast is served in the common room at 8:30 a.m. Dee is an amazing cook. I went down for breakfast every morning during our stay. We were served a scrumptious breakfast pie one day, french toast the next day, and on the final day a breakfast casserole with home-made biscuit!
Since it was my BF's b-day I made arrangements with Phil and Dee before our arrival to surprise him. They had a birthday balloon and chocolate covered strawberries with a personalized message on the plate in our room when we checked in and the next day a birthday cake in the common area. When we went down to leave for the day, there it was, a beautiful chocolate masterpiece that was ordered from a local bakery. They set out candles and matches along with plates, napkins and forks for the 2 of us. We did not want to eat the cake just yet as we were meeting my dad for lunch so we put it in the fridge for later. I called and asked Phil if we could bring my dad and stepmom back to enjoy the cake with us and he said we could. When we got back they had set out additional plates, napkins and forks. We thought that was very thoughtful! They really helped me make his birtday memorable!
Our stay was fantastic and I can't wait to return. I have 2 suggestions that would have made it a perfect trip.
1. Phil and Dee frown upon eating meals in the rooms. This is because there is no table or anything in the rooms so I understood. Other B&B's we have stayed in allow you to eat in the room, even delivering your breakfast and giving you trays or having a table within the room on which to eat. Since this one did not, my BF missed 2 breakfasts because he slept in and I could not get him up to get dressed and go down. (I rubbed it in about how good they were). This did not hamper our trip at all as he rarely eats breakfast anyway. They did let me bring the food up one day when I asked but I could tell they really did not want me to. Phil explained to me their reason, that sometimes you get disrespectful guests who eat in the bed and make messes. We did not do that, we sat on the floor even when we ate Dee's delicious cookies. It just would have been nice to have the option.
2. A screen on the blacony door would have been nice. The place uses an evap cooler so we wanted to leave the door open to let in the fresh Sedona air. A screen door will help keep the bugs out.
Our trip was fabulous. The property is amazing. They have adorable llamas that you can feed and their dog, Patrick was super friendly! We loved the place and can't wait to return. Don't let my suggestions scare you away if you are interested in the Dream Maker! They by no means made our stay less enjoyable. When in Sedona we will never stay any place else!
Thank you Phil and Dee for having such a beautiful, realxing place and for making his birthday so special!
