if you book this hotel for the view, do not believe the photos. Upon our arrival we were very disappointed with the views and the hotel seemed a bit run down. There are very few rooms with views, although if you stand at the very small pool you will get the travel brochure view. The public areas of the hotel are in need of a paint touch up combined with a good carpet cleaning. Rooms were very nice, decorated in a comtemporay style and did not share the run down look. Hotel is located at the bottom of a hill, but they have a golf cart to take you to the top. Free valet parking. Valets are great for getting luggage to your room. Overall staff is excellent except for the maids. Restaurant is outstanding. Great morning sun in the restaurant with a wonderful outdoor seating area. One of the best in Sedona.

“Zen not found here”

Amara Resort and Spa

My husband and I stayed at the Amara in June 2005. The hotel was very clean and the bed was extremly comfortable as promised.Through out the hotel there is a aromatic therapy that was at first very pleasant and after a few hours became very overbearing. The hotel was a general disapointment only because of the over rated reviews by a nationally published tourist magazine. The property has cramped land boarders that has the Oak Creek to one side and a steep asphalt parking lot and structure to the other. The ability to walk down to the the creek is close to impossible and the resort offers no views of it from the rooms. There is minimal green space and the pool is small. The nightly open gas fire pit near the pool was romantic. The rooms are a standard size with a very standard bathroom. The balconys are small and confined feeling, that offer views of the neighboring resort parking lot.The service was excellant with friendly and helpful staff. If you are looking for a Zen experiance it may not happen here no matter how much you pay.

I didn't pay $300/nighte for a room without view. The room was small and located right in front of a bush on the ground floor. The size of the whirpool is a little bigger than a regular bath-tab. If you are expecting one fits a couple, WRONG! We left the hotel inn 10 min after we checked in.

This is the best place to stay in Sedona.. Hotel and staff were awesome. Bed's are the best. Very cozy. Dinner was awesome and sedona is absolutly beautiful.. Cant wait to come back to amara. Feel Free to email us dor things to do in sedona or info on the resort.. Try to go hiking when you are there. Also the hot stone massage was amazing. Thanks Amara for such a great trip.

“The Service was Amazing!! Joanie The Concierge is Terrific!”

Amara Resort and Spa

This is a boutique hotel nestled 1 block behind the shops with breathtaking views of the red rocks. I was traveling with my mother, sister and baby daughter so we had alot of opinions. We booked online with 2 rates-the one with the view (Courtside View)overlooks the pool and red rocks and is well worth the additional $20. If you truly are not going to ever be in your room during daylight hours you wouldn't need to worry about the view because the rooms are terrific with Aveda bath products, fabulous linens, hair dryers, free dvd loans, NY Times etc. This is not a large resort-it is a lovely hotel with a tremendous staff!!
Joanie the Concierge took such amazing care of us from lining up a Red Rock balloon tour (amazing) to finding trustworthy babysitters, booking massages and recommending sights, galleries etc. We had an amazing dinner on the patio by the fire pit over looking the Red Rocks with a fabulous dinner and amazing wine list. There is something on the menu at every price range.
The pool is small but was filled with happy families- it is the type of hotel where people know the staff by the end of a 2 day visit. Very personable and helpful. Local artists work is displayed through out the grounds. We also stayed at Enchantment but next month we are returning to Amara because it was superb!
