“Romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

The staff was very friendly and competent. It seemed like everyone wanted to make our stay the best it could be. The hotel is located in the downtown area along Oak Creek. The infinity edge saltwater pool has a fantastic view of Snoopy rock. We stayed in January but I could tell the pool area would be the place to be in the summer. They have a cocktail hour everyday from five to six everyday, serving wine and hot cider.
The driveway is steep but walkable if you wanted to walk and do some shopping, the hotel does offer a free shuttle if you don’t want to walk up the hill. The hotel also offers free valet parking, part of the resort fees I’m sure.
The rooms are well appointed with upscale linens, flat screen TV, DVD player, refrigerator, and a safe. The rooms have no coffee maker but they have coffee and tea available in the lobby every morning. They also offer what my wife says is “the best Hot Chocolate I every tasted in my life”. She didn’t miss a day!
Our stay was not without incident. We checked in and unpacked and went exploring. When we turned in for the evening we notice the door wouldn’t lock. We called the front desk and the maintenance man was knocking at the door in less than five minutes. He was unable to repair the door and we were quickly relocated. The next day the hairdryer broke. Another call and we quickly had a replacement
We’ve visited Sedona before and I’m sure we will revisit the Amara again!

Room Tip: all rooms have a patio but not all have a view. 230 was a corner room with two patios.

Greetings BobBarb,

Thank you for choosing to spend your romantic getway with us. Sedona is certainly a magical place and romance is in the year regardless the time of year. You are post on about the pool being the place to be during the warmer weather. Who wouldn’t want to relax in the hot tub or pool and enjoy the incredible views. The team appreciates the recognition and they are committed to providing the best possible experience for all of our guests. Coffee and hot chocolate to start the day or a glass of wine or cider after a day of exploring while meeting our other guests is amazing. Best hot chocolate ever…that is certainly high praise. Hiccups happen along the way but I am ecstatic to hear they were handled quickly and enthusiastically. We look forward to your next escape to Sedona.
Warm regards,
Patrick

This place was a great find in every respect. I am really beginning to fall for Kimpton !
The location is wonderfully close to the small downtown district (its a bit of a steep walk up the stairs however. They offer courtesy vans for free).
The service and the rooms are truly fabulous. Lots of little stuff that shows that someone cares e.g. a walk-in closet. The staff is very attentive.

Greetings mleuth,

I am thrilled you found us as well. We don’t want to be a hidden gem any longer. BTW-The Amara and Kimpton is falling for you too. We have incredible properties all over the United States, all unique but spectacular in their own right. The Amara with the perfect location, spectacular views, and fantastic staff ready to make your stay memorable, is a can’t miss spot. Don’t keep us waiting too long.

Warm regards,
Patrick

My wife and I spent the day / night in Sedona and stayed here. Overall the property was great, drinks were great and food was very good. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was because our room seemed to have have a stairwell overhead. Not the biggest deal but was a bit disturbing when trying to go to sleep. Overall the place is great and we'll def be back.

Hotel was nice, quiet, great courtyard fire pits and infinity pool overlooking the creek. Bar and apps slightly high in price but probably not for the area, unique margaritas and guacamole kit was delicious.

Dozer21,
I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience... Not a better place to be to relax and take in the great Red Rock and Snoopy Views than our courtyard, hot tub, or pool. You can even a game a “bags” (corn hole) as well. Glad you enjoyed our fabulous margaritas and guacamole kit.
Warm regards,
Patrick

I had not heard of the Kimpton Hotels before we stayed here, but I am definitely a fan now. The hotel met the standards of most upper scale hotels and resorts, with a few extras such as umbrellas and footie socks in the room, but the key element for me is Friendliness. Everyone was friendly, but there were stand-outs: Ryan on the front desk, Regan and J.B. on the valet front and Emilie in the bar - if you like margaritas, be sure to have Emilie make you one of her special "straight-ups". The location is right downtown and their free shuttle takes you almost everywhere you'd want to go. We had dinner reservations at Rene's and went out to check on the shuttle availability - it was backed out and we left right then. Right by the door they have a Welcome sign with water and dog biscuits for their canine friends. The wine hour in the evening is fun - April was a terrific hostess -and besides wine (which is just okay), they offer a bourbon hot apple cider that I enjoyed - and I don't like bourbon! And if you like hot chocolate, be sure to try their hot cocoa in the mornings - YUM.
I think the friendliness of the staff contributed, but I have also seldom found the guests to be as friendly as everyone was here - all in all a great experience! And, if the person who took pictures of the Giant Jenga game my daughter had sees this - please send them to me:-) Almost forgot to mention - if you join the Kimpton club, you get free wi-fi - and it was about the best wif-fi I've had in a hotel. Fast and stayed connected.

Room Tip: We started out with a courtyard view room that I liked. We had to move (there was a strong unpleasa...

Megan at the front desk upgraded us because they weren't full and mine was a courtyard view. Wow. I think the pool views would be great too, but ours was the creek with the mountains in the distance. I had a jetted tub, and loved the place! All the employees were nice and helpful, eager to please and fun. There was a wine tasting at night, and we played Jiant Jenga with the staff and guests. The infinity pool was awesome (could be heated a little more when it is cold out!!) and the view was incredible. Loved the fire pits, yoga mats, umbrella and other extras. Would love to go back! And I like Kimptons now...plus they are dog friendly! Next time we can take Hank, our cow dog.

Room Tip: The creek or the pool...hotel was quiet where we were.

Greetings Kathymcc613,

We love to hear that you loved your time with us...Thank you for recognizing Megan and the wonderful upgrade...There are amazing views where ever you look in Sedona but I think our courtyard/backyard is a little slice of heaven. Sitting by the fire pits with your drink of choice soaking in the beauty of Sedona can’t be beat. Take a dip in our heated pool (80 degrees) or the hot tub soak your tired body after exploring all of the hiking trails in Sedona...not a bad way to end the day. Yes indeed we are very pet friendly and like to acknowledge all of our guests (fury, four legged, etc.)
Warm regards,
Patrick

We stayed the second week of January and certainly had a great stay. Property was great, location was great and the room was clean, quite and well maintained. The staff was very helpful with special thanks to Crystal at the front desk and Ryan and Skylar who handled the parking and shuttle services. All were great and a wealth of information. The WiFi is free if you join their reward program which we did. It was free and easy to do.

As noted the property is nestled down and behind the main town so you are either using your car or the shuttle.

The main town in pretty much tourist oriented which is fine for the tshirts. However, the better shops are spread out everywhere so it is best to get recommendations and do some driving.

Get your tourist information at the Arizona/Tourist Center, and there is one close to the hotel. They are a great source for information and they will not twist your arm for costly trips. Visit Jerome as a day trip.

We ate at a variety of places and all were great though pricey.

When we make our trip, we will stay at this property again.

Room Tip: Get a second floor balcony room, there will be a lot of people outside.
