“Location can't be beat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed at the Amara hotel overnight in November. It is located in the middle of uptown Sedona, which means you can walk to the shops and the tourist agencies. The hotel itself is modern, clean and reasonably priced. They offer free valet parking. I would say that the one negative is the restaurant. The menu is limited to Southwestern food and the dishes are spicy. I would stay there again, but eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Take the room one up from the least expensive. It has better views and is still reasonably priced...

Beds very comfortable.
Room stylish.
Quiet room in the main ( no street noise due to location) but person in room above a little heavy footed and person to the side perhaps hard of hearing (TV noise).
Valet service appreciated - but you would think the attendant at the door would offer to help with bags on arrival (on departure this was offered by a different member of staff to the previous day - thank you).
Outside area lovely and stairs to street level have a great viewing platform halfway up.
Disappointed that coffee/ tea facilities were not included in the room - woke up very early and really was in need of a cup of tea.
On balance a good stay.

I'd never stayed at a Kimpton or quite understood why they are different, but certainly do now. The Amara is a beautiful hotel tucked behind uptown Sedona. The uptown location is very touristy but the hotel itself removes itself from that annoyance and offers a peaceful getaway with a close location to explore all of Sedona and the surrounding area.

Rooms are not the biggest but they are very nice and clean and well maintained. My understanding is this hotel was just renovated in the last year or so and it shows. The lobby is beautiful as is the restaurant and sitting area outside the hotel (which is what nearly every picture of the hotel shows). Wine and apps in the early evening for free and coffee in the morning for free is a great perk. It makes going to the lobby a bit more fun, and the crowd of people staying here are generally interesting.

The nicest perk might be the free shuttle to pick up guests within a several mile radius of the hotel. This makes going out all that much better and faster than hailing a cab or Uber. Parking is a bit odd as it requires the valet getting your car each and every time, but again, with the shuttle service, leave the car at the hotel.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone, easy location to explore Sedona and great service. Its not a "resort" with vast grounds to explore, but its an affordable, high quality hotel that allowed us to explore the rest of Sedona and the surrounding area.

We just stayed at Amara Resort this past weekend. Great place. Employees were really nice. Resort was well maintained and very clean. We didn't eat at their restaurant cause we never saw one person eat there. Usually empty restaurants mean one thing. The room was nice and very clean. Looks like it was just remodeled. The $20 resort fee does cover valet parking which is nice. Our only concern was the resort says they have free wifi... yes, it's free is you want to fill out a 20min survey online with questions about what kind of dog you have to other stupid questions that only mean one thing....they want you data to sell off to marketers.. At the end of the survey they want your credit card number too.. Sorry, that's not free wifi. With so many other resorts out there offering free wifi with no hassles. I doubt we'll ever be back to Amara.

Greetings AGT350,
Thank you for sharing your experience and spending the weekend with us. I’m disappointed you didn’t dine with us…. you missed exceptional meals and amazing cocktails. Chef Massimo and the culinary team are incredible with really amazing food. I am sorry that the wifi experience was so frustrating for you. The signing up for Karma rewards is so that it is personal to you and to ensure that you receive all of the perks and benefits. It shouldn’t be that maddening and for that I am sorry. Once signed up you receive complimentary wifi at all of our Kimpton properties as well as $10 to raid the Bar (in room or in SALTROCK) along with additional perks and karma.
Being that you are so close, I hope we have an opportunity to have you back.

Warm regards,
Patrick

We stayed at Amara in December for a quick getaway between holidays. We really enjoyed the stay, took advantage of the bar, the hot tub, the free coffee every morning, as well as the happy hour!

The location is nice, the view is amazing from the general space at the hotel. The fire pits are awesome, and there are multiples.

Service is first class from all of the staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. For sure a place I would want to look into staying again if I'm in the area!

I stayed at this hotel for four nights in August 2014.Has an excellent restaurant. Sitting outside at the restaruant, or in thier lounge chairs, or at the pool - you have this idyllic, peaceful view of Sedon'as red rocks, white clouds, and blue skies. What more can you ask for. In the center of downtown Sedona. One can walk to Talaquepake shopping, and to Schnebly Road hiking.(all that is doable if you are a hiker). Their van will take you anywhere and pick you up, within 1 mile of the hotel.

Spent two nights here in December of 2014 with a courtyard view with the beautiful red rock in the distance. . The hotel is located down a driveway behind a commercial area of shops. Once down the driveway in the beautiful canyon, I started to unwind. Valet parking is available and self parking is also available. Rooms were recently renovated with a contemporary vibe. Wine and light refreshments are served in the lobby from 5-6 pm. The courtyard area is attractive with a pool and pit fire. Blankets were provided on the back of the chairs for those who wanted to sit out in the chilly night. There is a restaurant on the property and the spa is located outside the hotel from the front entrance area. The location of the hotel is in a central area of Sedona with good access to the Oak Creek Canyon Area up the road or the South Red Rock State Park Area. You can also drive to high end shopping in about 2 miles. This is not a plush hotel but a stylish convenient and friendly hotel for active travelers.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with mobility, the halls are long and have a couple of steps up and down to make...
