“Nice place but................”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We just stayed at Amara Resort this past weekend. Great place. Employees were really nice. Resort was well maintained and very clean. We didn't eat at their restaurant cause we never saw one person eat there. Usually empty restaurants mean one thing. The room was nice and very clean. Looks like it was just remodeled. The $20 resort fee does cover valet parking which is nice. Our only concern was the resort says they have free wifi... yes, it's free is you want to fill out a 20min survey online with questions about what kind of dog you have to other stupid questions that only mean one thing....they want you data to sell off to marketers.. At the end of the survey they want your credit card number too.. Sorry, that's not free wifi. With so many other resorts out there offering free wifi with no hassles. I doubt we'll ever be back to Amara.

Greetings AGT350,
Thank you for sharing your experience and spending the weekend with us. I’m disappointed you didn’t dine with us…. you missed exceptional meals and amazing cocktails. Chef Massimo and the culinary team are incredible with really amazing food. I am sorry that the wifi experience was so frustrating for you. The signing up for Karma rewards is so that it is personal to you and to ensure that you receive all of the perks and benefits. It shouldn’t be that maddening and for that I am sorry. Once signed up you receive complimentary wifi at all of our Kimpton properties as well as $10 to raid the Bar (in room or in SALTROCK) along with additional perks and karma.
Being that you are so close, I hope we have an opportunity to have you back.

Warm regards,
Patrick

We stayed at Amara in December for a quick getaway between holidays. We really enjoyed the stay, took advantage of the bar, the hot tub, the free coffee every morning, as well as the happy hour!

The location is nice, the view is amazing from the general space at the hotel. The fire pits are awesome, and there are multiples.

Service is first class from all of the staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. For sure a place I would want to look into staying again if I'm in the area!

I stayed at this hotel for four nights in August 2014.Has an excellent restaurant. Sitting outside at the restaruant, or in thier lounge chairs, or at the pool - you have this idyllic, peaceful view of Sedon'as red rocks, white clouds, and blue skies. What more can you ask for. In the center of downtown Sedona. One can walk to Talaquepake shopping, and to Schnebly Road hiking.(all that is doable if you are a hiker). Their van will take you anywhere and pick you up, within 1 mile of the hotel.

Spent two nights here in December of 2014 with a courtyard view with the beautiful red rock in the distance. . The hotel is located down a driveway behind a commercial area of shops. Once down the driveway in the beautiful canyon, I started to unwind. Valet parking is available and self parking is also available. Rooms were recently renovated with a contemporary vibe. Wine and light refreshments are served in the lobby from 5-6 pm. The courtyard area is attractive with a pool and pit fire. Blankets were provided on the back of the chairs for those who wanted to sit out in the chilly night. There is a restaurant on the property and the spa is located outside the hotel from the front entrance area. The location of the hotel is in a central area of Sedona with good access to the Oak Creek Canyon Area up the road or the South Red Rock State Park Area. You can also drive to high end shopping in about 2 miles. This is not a plush hotel but a stylish convenient and friendly hotel for active travelers.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with mobility, the halls are long and have a couple of steps up and down to make...

My husband and I love Kimpton hotels and they are always first choice when we travel. This was our first stay at Amara but definitely won't be the last. I wasn't too sure about the location, being just off the main drag in the touristy part of town, but it was quiet and secluded, with stunning views of the red rocks and Oak Creek. The bed was extremely comfortable and the towels were thick and plush. Every staff member was pleasant and helpful and seemed like they truly enjoyed their jobs. They don't have ice machines but when we called the front desk they had ice delivered to our room within a couple of minutes. The courtesy shuttle was very convenient. The huevos rancheros at Saltrock were outstanding! As others have commented, the pool could be a bit warmer but that is about the only thing that could be improved upon. Kimpton really really gets it right when it comes to customer service. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Second floor creek side was quiet, with lovely views of the creek and red rocks.

Green Features: I would like to see them change to refillable pump containers for soap and shampoo, eliminating those landfill clogging individual plastic bottles.

After going through a number of reviews and pictures of numerous hotels, I finally booked my stay at Amara. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, just that I was going to get there very early or well before the 4pm check in time. Because it was a Monday the room was ready. I politely asked if there was a room with a nice view and the lady at the checkin desk was more than happy to oblige.

We were given a room with a view of the creek and a partial view of the pool. This was on a quiet side on the upper level.

What I really loved about this place was the level of service provided. The valet which is included is very good, top notch. This makes for an easy in and out experience! They will also give you a ride anywhere within 1mile.

The breakfast is also excellent with a view of the mountain.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would always stay here if I want to be in the heart of it all.

Room Tip: Just ask if there's a room with a nice view!

Stylish and modern, although somewhat out of place in such a natural setting.
Some fantastic features (very comfy bed, 5pm wine, good quality mountain bikes available to borrow for free etc). The restaurant offers a good cross section of South Western food with some excellent surprises (e.g. king oysters mushrooms with chocolate !).

The only two things I think could be improved upon:
- I would expect the wifi to be complimentary
- the noise proofing could be improved upon whcih can be an issue if your top floor neighbour is an early riser and / or has a dog
