“Great place for a vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

My sister and I wanted to see the Grand Canyon which was unfortunately closed because if the Government Shutdown, but we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel. It was close to downtown Sedona and within walking distance. The surroundings of this hotel was just beautiful, a creek in the back of the hotel and a gorgeous view of the mountains. Since we were unable to go on a tour to the Grand Canyon, we just walked around everywhere and we did not regret it. We only stayed a couple of nights, but we thought that our room was very comfortable and very large (2 queen beds), the service was excellent and the people working there were very helpful and very friendly. We stayed for breakfast at the hotel and all was delicious. I must recommend the bagel, cream cheese and logs. It was just so, so good! They also had happy hour and it was just relaxing to sit in the lobby and have a glass of wine. I really recommend this hotel.

We stayed in two creekside one bedroom suites. One faced the poolside and had a better view of the red rocks. The other was more secluded and had a more limited view of the rocks, but was quieter than the pool view room.

Both rooms were beautifully furnished, and the bed was very comfortable. We were able to open the sliding glass doors and sleep with only the screen closed so we could hear the birds and water. Both balconies were spacious, although one room had lounge chairs as well as a table and 4 chairs, and the other lacked lounge chairs.

The bathroom was big, with a great (although noisy) jetted tub. I do not know why they put a pedestal sink in the bathroom, but there are plenty of other places to store toiletries.

Room service was fast. In fact, I think the staff must have to pass a running endurance test before they get a job because they RUN everywhere! The valets ran up a pretty steep hill to get our car.

The hotel is situated downhill from the shops, but the valets will gladly drive you anywhere within a mile radius, so you don't have to hike up to town.

The restaurant served excellent food, although expensive. The gnocchi was especially tasty!

I would gladly stay at this resort property in the future!

Room Tip: I believe our suites were 255 and 258. 255 faces the pool and 258 is the quieter room. Also, bring...

We stayed here on our annual girls' trip and loved it. The pool area is beautiful, the service was outstanding and the room was very comfortable. The staff had good recommendations and were very accommodating in everything we needed. We used our AAA discount; otherwise it was a bit out of our price range. The spa was also quite nice. If you're looking for a hotel/resort where you can actually stay on premises to swim, eat, relax - this is a good place!

My wife and I love visiting Sedona and from time to time will try different hotels. On our most recent visit we decided to see what the Amara resort is like. It truly is tucked away off the main drag in Sedona. You have to look for it and drive down an long drive to arrive. After all it is right up against Oak Creek. The staff are friendly and responsive. The room was sizeable but the furniture was probably a little too dark and stark for my taste. There is a free evening wine hour and a coffee bar in the morning. We enjoyed putting on our robes getting some coffee and walking back to the room to overlook the creek and some lovely Sedona red rock views. That was the highlight of the location.

Be aware that because it is tucked away walking up to the main drag is a little unusual. There did not appear to be a direct way other than walking through the long drive way by parking lots and entrances. If you do it you will know what I mean.

Room Tip: Depending on the time of year and your interests, overlooking the pool and courtyard area while sitt...

This is the second time staying here. Business this time but with my wife and for children last time. Each stay was equally wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable and plenty spacious. The grounds are very nice and everything is spotless. The restaurant is worth a try. If the weather is good, I recommend eating outside. The staff was warm and friendly. It is a very inviting place, luxurious but not over the top. Very close to everything in downtown Sedona but feels ver secluded and quiet. You can walk to most everything, but because it is down a hill and next to a wonderful bubbling creek, you feel all alone. Even a free glass of wine at check in.

This hotel is located right on the Oak Creek below a beautiful red rock formation; the pictures on the website do it justice. The infinity salt water pool is awesome. The rooms are lovely and immaculate, but if you go smaller than a suite don't let them charge you too much...they aren't worth more than $200/night. The beds are heavenly.
The staff were the best part of the experience. Unlike the nearby L'Auberge, the Amara staff went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs, whether it be a special martini, spa appointments, or a dvd rental. There is complimentary coffee every morning and wine at 5pm.
Also, they have free yoga every morning!

Room Tip: Take a suite.

As soon as you drive into Sedona you are greeted by beautiful sights, so we were really hoping our accomodations would offer beautiful views, it did not dissapoint. Though this resort is in the middle of the busy Uptown shopping and tourist district it is very quiet even when walking the gorgeous grounds of this resort. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the spa is amazing also we were treated with special attention during our massages and facial ( mine only my husband passed on that). This trip is our first one since being married and we saved so that we could vacation in style and comfort and Amara Resort provided that for us in spades! Thank you!

Room Tip: I think any room you have in this resort will be amazing.
