Very relaxing hotel. The staff was very friendly, loved the pool area and view, and the live music at night with the open fire pits isn't something you get at many hotels. My 11 and 16 year old kids thought this was a pretty cool hotel too. I would definitely recommend. The water control in the shower is confusing to use and free wifi in rooms would be a nice addition

I picked the Amara by much research prior to booking the Hotel. I can tell you, my hard work and research paid off! It was a rough year, with me beating breast cancer and both of us being hit hard with Hurricane Sandy, we just wanted to get away and forget all those hard moments. Choosing the Amara was spot on! The hotel, now benefiting from becoming part of the Kimpton Family is an amazing resort, beautifully appointed, manicured just right; yet understated in elegance and class.

It was the best "feel good" vacation that we have had in many, many years. Thanks in part to Benjamin, Joey, Teah, Jennifer, Lauren, Imelda, Barbara, and many others whose names are too numerous to list.

When we arrived home, I called the Hotel and booked another 8 day stay next June. I spoke with Jennifer and told her how much we enjoyed the Amara experience.

One thing that struck me is that during our stay and the excitement in the air of the "new company coming in", every staff member was so upbeat about this change and all were looking forward to the transition. I understood it as I am familiar with Kimpton Hotels here in New York. It was good to see these employees embracing the change and looking to a bright future with such positiveness!

I hope, however, that the pool area stays as beautiful as it is now. We actually stayed at the pool for the first 4 days all day long; it was that relaxing. We were treated at poolside by Benjamin and Joey like royalty!
The Amara is a first class resort, intimate yet offers all the extras of a large resort. We will return next year without a doubt. Total excellence, first class staff! Awesome. Thank you, Amara!

This is one of my favorite hotels, everything is outstanding: The view from the room, the lake at the back of the hotel full of ducks, the food, the swimming pool, the fireplace in the patio-room at night, the personnel, the yoga class, and the most amazing thing is the spa place. I have had the best massage with all kind of natural products for 1 1/2 hour. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely property and staff really does a great job making your visit enjoyable. Just acquired by Kimpton and I think things will only get better with their ownership..seems like the right chain for this property.

Just a couple of thoughts for Kimpton... Pool area is a bit small, they might like to re-think the cabanas that take too much space. The large (and pricey) suites at the end of the property should have chaise lounge chairs (there was room for them) on the decks! The bathroom in our suite was very poorly designed..odd shower curtain (or lack there of) caused water to flow everywhere. No place to put things in bathroom..just needs a re-do.

Seems like earlier complaints of dogs using the lawn have been addressed. Many dogs staying there and the owners we obviously told to go out front and away from guest areas. The dog guests were not a problem at all!

Anyway, pretty view, nice location, breakfast menu reasonably priced, great staff..good place to stay!

Greetings from Sedona. Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful comments about the service here at the Amara. I will certainly share them with the team here. We are very excited to be a Kimpton property and I agree it is a great match.

You make some great points about the pool area and suite patios. I really like that idea of putting chaise lounge chairs on the patios of the suites. We are planning to renovate the guest rooms in the next 12-18 months and I will certainly share your feedback as we go through the process regarding the bathrooms as well. This is truly helpful feedback. Thank you!!! Please come back and see us next time you are in Sedona.

Warm regards,

We stayed for three days at the end of a week long trip to Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Petrified Forest and back. We thought that enjoying the resort after a crazy week would be nice and this resort fit the bill for relaxing. It is a lovely resort, we enjoyed the infinity pool and jacuzzi. The pool had lovely views, the jacuzzi was wonderful at night and we could see the stars twinkling in the skies.

The hotel is a down a steep driveway which is fine as the resort is right off the main street but away from the crowds. The valet folks were friendly and fast so we never waited long for the car. The walk up the hill could be tough for some but I think they offer a golf cart ride. We walked up every morning to the Wildflower restaurant to get great breakfasts. On Mothers Day we got a free loaf of bread there.

The concierge was not as helpful with directions for hikes but everyone else we met was nice.

The hotel was kept very clean and they used some wonderful fragrant toiletries. Nice robes in the closet for trips to the pool. This was a good base for exploring Sedona although would not necessarily come back to the area, a bit too touristy and took away from the grandeur of other sites on our trip. On the other hand we ate much better here than anywhere else on our trip

Room Tip: Away from courtyard if you want quiet. Toward it if you like music and being close to pool.

Greetings from beautiful Sedona,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful and honest feedback. I am thrilled you were able to relax by the pool and enjoy the beauty of the area. I am sorry to hear that we were not able to assist with hikes in the area. That is disappointing. We will work on this. I appreciate your honesty about the area but if you change your mind about returning to this area please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Warm regards,

This was such a lovely friendly hotel. The rooms are nice and clean with a balcony overlooking the lovely woodlands. The infinity pool and relaxing terrace with views of the red rocks were excellent. The lovely little creek with lovely wild life and ducks on the water was beautiful.

We had dinner here on our first evening and the salmon and halibut were great, We should have eaten here on our second night aswell instead of the grill next. door as it wasn't nearly as good..
Breakfast was very nice with lots of choices. This may be one hotel where I would recommend you stay in and use all their facilities as I don;t feel Sedona has many other good restaurants nearby. The staff are a real asset to this hotel and the most relaxing place to stay. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: I guess a room looking out to the red rocks would be the best

We normally stay at Enchantment when in Sedona, but our trip, being last minute, we couldn't coordinate our stay. Instead we decided to try a new venue and happened upon the Amara Resort and Spa. Amara is not quite the same level as Enchantment, perhaps a step lower on the scale, but for those not willing to pay the price of Enchantment it is a very good find. The rooms are well appointed, clean and well maintained. All of the staff from greeting valets, concierge staff, reception and restaurant are all very friendly and interested in providing a comfortable stay. The room was comfortable as was the king size bed that provided a very good nights sleep. The restaurant provides a nice selection of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was very attentive and made for a very memorable stay.

Greetings from Sedona,
We are so happy you discovered us!!! We hope the Amara is a secret no more. Recently we became a Kimpton property which we are extremely excited about and hope our guests are as well. Kimpton will continue to invest money into the property, specifically the guest rooms and lobby area. But regardless, we will continue to strive to raise the bar for the level of service in Sedona so our guests feel the value of being at a Kimpton. We hope to see you next time you are in Sedona.
