“Excellent location and great place to stay - as long as you're not in one of the studios”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for four nights (using Hyatt points) to celebrate our first anniversary. We initially requested a one bedroom when booking the reservation but were told none were available, so we went with the studio. After checking in and taking one look at that tiny room, we were right back at the front desk seeing what could be done - and amazingly enough, a one bedroom was available for a $50/night upgrade. The front desk staff even took the time to find us the one with the best view for our stay. One quick question, though - if it was available, why didn't they just book it for us in the first place? I get the feeling reservations are a little bit different here given that it is a timeshare property, but still. We'll take it. Be firm on your reservation requests if you're not a timeshare member!

Upon check-in, you do make a stop off with the concierge for a welcome packet and the "let us plan everything! please listen to us convince you to buy a timeshare!" pitch, but we politely declined and they actually left us alone.

The one bedroom is quite a step up from the studio - significantly more space, washer/dryer in unit, giant soaking tub, good-sized balcony with great views (at least from our unit). For a couple, I would definitely recommend stepping up from the studio to the one bedroom if available.

The Hyatt has a great location in Uptown Sedona - can walk to Pink Jeep tours and several restaurants/shops in the uptown area. The property has some great features as well with fire pits, tennis courts, and its own shops.

We loved sitting on our balcony, sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunset. And if it got too chilly, we just moved into the living room, turned on the fire, and still watched the gorgeous sunset. Great place to stay.

Room Tip: The units in building 17 have great views! Make sure you request a room with a view when booking so...

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Rooms spacious and spotless, fantastic pool and activity center. Great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, there were 2 decks, one in front and one in back. Great views of the mountains. Walking distance to a great restaurant, Starbucks and shops. The hottubs were nice and plenty of lounge chairs at the pool. The AC and heat worked well and quickly. There was even a washer and dryer with detergent in the room.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a long path and steps to reach. If you have lots of luggage you'll need help and...

I love the Hyatt hotels & residences and would like to have given Pinon Pointe a 5 rating, but it just wasn't up to par.

We paid approximately $200 + taxes +$20 resort fee for a grand total of ~$250. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and departed the next day. My husband and I were given a studio room, on the first floor.

Pros:
1. The Hyatt has the best location in Sedona. The property has beautiful surroundings and views on all sides (though our room's view was the parking lot - more below). It's adjacent to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, where you can get very detailed information on Sedona site-seeing, hiking, biking, etc.
2. The staff was friendly.
3. The room's bathroom had an amazingly powerful fan.

Cons:
1. The room was DARK. We had a sliding glass door that opened on to a little patio. Unfortunately the patio was right in front of the parking lot. You could see directly into our room, so we couldn't keep the drapes open. We also couldn't keep the window open at night to let in the fresh air, because someone could easily hop the patio wall and come in.
2. The staff was friendly, but not knowledgeable. We asked the concierge about what to see in the morning before we left and got a vague response that there was a lot hiking to around Sedona and it was all good. If they had just said, "hey, the Chamber of Commerce is next door, just walk over, they have park rangers and great staff that can refer you" -- we would have been overjoyed. No one mentioned this great resource.
3. The studio was small and felt very, very cramped. A lot of big furniture, in a very small space.
4. I don't know what it is about Hyatt lately, but the bathroom amenities are seriously lacking. No shower cap, no shower gel.
5. I'm Hyatt Platinum and I expect for my loyalty to get nicer rooms. On 3 of my last 5 stays with Hyatt, I feel that I have gotten some of the worst, smallest rooms.

I expected a lot more for $250. We stayed Sunday night at the Westin Phoenix Downtown for $60 + 4000 SPG points and were blown away by the size of the room, the view, their bar and their gym.

We'll be visiting Sedona again in the spring, but probably will not stay at this Hyatt. There are far better properties in town that are half the price.

Room Tip: Make sure that if you are in a studio, you ask to be on the 2nd floor. If they can't give you a...

Stayed for four nights in a studio. The Hotel is well located right on the "Y" of 179 and 89A. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby and quick access to the main roads for day trips. Nice views from the hotel of Snoopy and other rock formations.
The hotel, however, has drawbacks you wouldn't expect for a Hyatt. Our studio was "barely" such with a minimal kitchen and absolutely no workspace.
No housekeeping for the four nights, not even to take out the trash. Seems we had to call them for that. Who knew? (We were out and about all day).
The concierge helped us with a couple of tours, one of which turned out to be an overpriced fiasco, but was most interested in having us tour the property to sell us a share and called repeatedly for that purpose
Parking can be a problem at night since the slots are not well distributed (empty in some areas, overflowing in others) and the hotel seems to tolerate guests parking in the fire lane.
Great location. Meh on the rest.

Room Tip: The studio we had was really small and not very comfortable.

This has to be the most central place to stay in Sedona. It is right in the middle of town with lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was large and very well appointed. Only one thing let it down and that was housekeeping. We were there for four nights and our room was not cleaned or provided with clean towels after 2nd night. The same happened the next day and we had to phone late afternoon for attention. They were very appologetic and someone came round soon after. They said they were very busy but it was a shame as it let them down. Appart from that we had a very enjoyable stay and would be happy to recommend.

This hotel is close to the center of town with shops and dining close by. We had a two bedroom suite and the view was fabulous. The suite had beautiful deep jacuzzi tub and very comfortable beds in the rooms. My grandaughtert Haley enjoyed the activity center which had great amenities for kids and teenagers. The pool and jacuzzi outdoors is amazing and right at base of mountain! We didnt want to leave and will definitely be going back!!

Room Tip: The one and two bedroom suites have the best views.

Hyatt Pinon Pointe is in the center of town with shops and dinning close by.
The facility is a Hyatt Vacation Ownership facility with rooms from a kingbed studios to two bedroom condos. Depending on location you can have a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains or be on the bottom floor without any view. We had a wonderful 3 day stay without any problems. The facility is very quiet and relaxing, I would definitely stay here again.
