“Great resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We accidently discovered the Pines last year after being sucked into a time share presentation from a booth in Sedona. The presentation took us to their sister property The Ridge, which was not impressive to us at all, very far away from Sedona with nothing special to offer. During last year’s presentation we made the mistake of overpaying for a trial “points package” from RCI, but our intention was to use these points to stay at The Pines for our next trip to Sedona.

Well…I can’t express how THRILLED we are with The Pines. It is far better than I expected. It is a cabins only hotel. The cabins are like little pre-fab houses and are beautiful, clean and comfortable. Every little detail has been well thought out including a full kitchen with convection over and every cooking tool possibly need, cleaning supplies, ample towel supply, two tvs and dvd players and even a fold up step stool for extra storage space. The pool is large and non-chlorine which is a pleasure and has a great Jacuzzi. There is also another great adult Jacuzzi available in a different location. The staff is very friendly.

When I read negative review, I can’t imagine what these people’s problems are…because Sedona Pines is fantastic. Why stay in an ordinary hotel when you can have your own private home.

Warning about The Ridge’s time share presentation: very tough, they don’t let up which is a real negative. Sit back, listen and just say NO. At the very end, an actual good deal will be thrown at you. If you do not own a time share already, this deal is actually pretty good…buying a points package from RCI using The Pines (NOT the Ridge) as your ownership. Do your homework online before going to the presentation and you will know what a good value is for purchasing a timeshare with the Points program to exchange.

And if you do own a time share elsewhere, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using your points to stay at The Pines. It is a wonderful wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: we stayed in the middle section and found it very pleasant...close to everything (jacuzzi, pool, off...

My husband and I booked Our stay at Sedona Pines through RCI as we had points which had to be used. We were extremely pleased. Our unit was immaculate and in excellent condition. We were accustomed to this type of accommodation as we have stayed in modular homes at Fort Wilderness in Disney World. My husband and I are average sized people so the fact that the kitchen and bedrooms were small did not upset is. We cooked many meals there as we were out all day and didn't want to go out to dinner late at night. We enjoyed having our own unit in this well-maintained resort and would go back in a heartbeat. Sedona has so many natural areas and we stayed away from most of the commercial attractions. The only exceptions were the Verde Valley Railroad and a TTSW tour to Grand Canyon.

We stayed at Sedona Pines for 7 nights. There were 4 adults and we were in 325a & b. The "a" unit has a bedroom, bath, equipped kitchen, and living room area. The "b" unit is just a bed and bath. The accommodations were a bit smallish, but comfortable, not lavish. The "a" and "b" units are in separate structures connected by a short walkway, so the privacy is nice. I believe the beds were queen size. Facilities were clean and modern. The "b" unit needs a new shower head, but it wasn't bad enough to complain about. The grounds were very pleasant with lots of water features, a nice pool and a couple of hot tubs. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this place to others and would stay there again. The restaurant on site is excellent. We booked several activities with the concierge. She was extremely helpful and her expertise was great. Interestingly, however, we overheard her telling someone on the phone a few days later that people could book activities at an "activity center" and pay a "helluva lot less than they pay us." It sounded like she was talking with another concierge somewhere, but again, we only heard her end of the discussion. In her defense, however, we felt that her knowledge and advice were well worth any additional cost. We resisted going to the 90 minute time-share type presentation that would have earned us a free activity.

Overall, we had a very nice stay at Sedona Pines.

Absolutly awsome! Much friendlier and feels more family oriented than those Diamond Resorts monstrosoties. Very quiet setting just outside Sedona AZ. Glad it is not in the heart of the town. Just 1 mile away. This is NOT urban camping! Nice small quaint units that offer plenty of comfort. Can't wait to return!!!

Overall, our experience at the Pines was Great!! You have your own private cottage and deck which was a nice change from condos and hallways. The cottages are immaculate and so well stocked with everything you could possible want - even down to sugar bowls with assorted sweeteners, all kinds of utensils, paper towels, s&p, etc. No need to stop at the store to pick up things you need (except food). We've stayed at locations where we had to go shopping and spend money buying all the essentials you need so this was a nice change. The one-bedroom cottages are not big but fine for two people. We found the kitchen a little difficult to get around when both of us were in there. The bedroom was efficient but on the small side. The living room and dining area was enough room for us with no problem. When we travel, we are out and about everyday so even though some of the rooms were small, it suited us fine since we don't go on vacation to stay in the room. The privacy of having your own separate place was an enjoyable experience. We saw a two-bedroom cottage and must say, I'm glad we didn't get one. When reserving, we thought about a two-bedroom just so we would have some extra room. When we saw them, we were glad we took a one-bedroom. The two-bedroom is actually a one-bedroom cottage with a separate cottage attached to the other side of the deck that has a bedroom and bathroom - that's it! Nice if you have another couple and they have some privacy by having their own rooms but you all share the living area in the one-bedroom. I think that would have been tight for us if we were traveling with another couple. It's better to get your own one-bedroom than share the two-bedroom. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff!! The office is open 24/7 and they are the most friendliest and accommodating staff I have come across in a very very long time. The grounds are extremely well-kept and maintained. Seeing the hot air balloons fly over every morning was beautiful. The Pines is outside of town which we were fine with. It took us 5 minutes to get into town and we also traveled in the other direction towards Cottonwood and Verde Canyon so location was great no matter which direction you went. We prefer the quiet locations then being in the heart of all going on. The resort had laundry rooms that you could use for free, nice extra. Being in Sedona, the heart of the red mountain country, is breathtaking with the views you see driving around. Unfortunately, where the Pines is located, you can't see them from your cottage but once you leave, there they are! The Pines is located off 89A, one of the main roads in Sedona. Since it is all by itself down the road from town, when you sit on your deck in the evening, you can hear the cars going by. It's not loud nor is there much traffic, but it does take away from the quiet setting in the Pines. The Bistro restaurant is good for when you arrive after traveling a long time and are unfamiliar with the area and are hungry. Food was good, but there are other restaurants in Sedona that are awesome!!! Pines has activities during the day if you want to hang out there for a day, go to the pool, and happy hour. We enjoyed our stay and it was a great experience and different from usual timeshares.

Room Tip: One-bedroom suites a couple fine. Try to stay at the back of the resort, further away from traffic...

We stayed for a week in a one bedroom unit that is big enough for just 2 people. Very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Staff is polite. Grounds were immaculate. Restaurant was OK - there are better choices in town. The galley kitchen is well stocked so if you do not want to drive into Sedona or eat at the bistro meal preparation is easy enough. Hiking and other activities are close by.

My overall experience at Sedona Pines Resort was excellent! Staff friendly and helpful, especially the evening front desk. The actual cottages are cozy and yes similiar to a modular type home. Everything was well maintained, clean and well stocked. 4 people in a 1 bedroom would be tight...perfect for 1 person or couple! The resort sits away from the touristy crowded part of Sedona yet convenient to all the attractions. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: I had cottage 223 which was easy walking distance to pool and bistro, tour building, putt putt golf...
