“Wonderful View; Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

What a lovely stay we had at the Matterhorn. To echo what others have said the staff at the desk were so very friendly and helpful. Great accommodations, excellent view, and within walking distance to lovely shops and restaurants. Relaxing on the deck with the view of the breathtaking Red Rocks made our trip.

On a recent trip to Sedona we were 2 couples and stayed at the Matterhorn Inn, in the A-Frame. This accommodation is located on an adjacent lot close to the main property and was an excellent find. It will accommodate 8 so with only 4 people we had room to spare. If your travels take you to Sedona you will be very happy at the Matterhorn.

Room Tip: Ask for the A-Frame

Dear rff000,
Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Vacation Chalet, which we rent out to larger groups to keep everyone under the same roof. With a living area, fully-equipped kitchen and a private deck that offers great red rock views, we think the Chalet is a great value for our guests. The Chalet is not available through our website, only by phone, so if you are interested in staying there again please call us anytime. Again, thank you for taking the time to review us. We hope to see you in the near future.
Best wishes

Perfect place to stay. Loud heating/cooling systems in some rooms. Staff at desk is excellent and helpful. VERY GOOD value. View of the Sedona Red Rocks were breath-taking and a great wake-up when the sun shines in.

Dear Mary H,
Thank you for your review. We like to think we are great value too, as we offer a great location with wonderful views from every room. Our heating units may not be the quietest, but they do the job of keeping the room at a relaxing temperature throughout the year. We are glad our front desk exceeded your expectations—we strive to give all guests the great service they deserve. Again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to your future visit.
Warm regards

If you want to be right in the middle of shopping & dining as well as great views of the red rock, this place is perfect! As many others have mentioned, the rooms are a bit dated and small but pretty clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. We got a room in the bottom floor and I Iike suggest if you wish to people watch or just enjoy the view right up and personal as you can pull your patio chairs right up to the railing and literally be right on top of the main road overlooking everything! The only negative is that we had 3 adults and one child and the beds are only DOUBLE and very hard! I got a very bad back ache. Definitely the most uncomfortable bed Ive ever had at a hotel (motel).

Dear lindsay8187,
Thank you for your review. We agree that we have a great location in the heart of uptown Sedona, with shopping and dining just steps away from our inn. We try our best to update our rooms through the years with new décor, bedding and amenities, such as free Wi-Fi and mini-fridges. We are glad you found the view from your room to be wonderful—that is a guarantee from every room. It is unfortunate to hear that your sleep was less than perfect during your stay with us. We have found from guest feedback that many have had a good night’s sleep with us, so this feedback is important for us to know. We are currently looking into more options for accommodating larger groups in one room. Thank you for your constructive feedback and we hope to see you again.
Warm wishes

Booked this pet friendly place at the last minute, after a slight change of plans. The price was very good considering it was right in the middle of spring break. Conveniently located at the north end of "Uptown Sedona", we were able to walk to the shops and restaurants and didn't have to worry about the traffic jam down on the street. The hotel is a bit ollder but has been very well cared for, and has modern furnishings and decor. We enjoyed the fantastic view off the front deck with our morning coffee, and again late in the afternoon when we switched to margaritas. Our hosts Becky and Barry were wonderful, spending extra time to make sure we had a good visit. We look forward to visiting here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor may be more quiet, but you will have to go up a flight of stairs to get to th...

Our 3 days in Sedona at the Matterhorn were great! Location was convenient to everything. The view from our window and balcony was fantastic. Although an older hotel our room was well up-dated with modern furnishings etc. It was very clean and comfortable. Service was very good. Friendly, helpful staff.
Great value with the winter special rate.

We spent two nights at the Matterhorn Inn in early March. We were both very impressed and would highly recommend it. The room furnishings are up-to-date, from the bedding to the bathroom tile! This isn't just a well maintained older property....it's a convenient, smaller property that is has been modernized. Even the view from the shower was wonderful! The location is great and the staff was friendly and efficient. From the parking lot at the rear of the building, the motel is 2-stories high, and room access is from outside walkways. First floor rooms are accessible right from the parking lot level, and second floor rooms require the use of stairs. Restaurants, shopping, etc. are just short walks away, and there is a convenience store with snacks, beer and wine just a couple of blocks from the Inn. The rest of Sedona is just a short drive. Our room had a mini-fridge, but did not have a microwave.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor may have a little better view of the red rocks. We had a room over the offi...

Dear CindyDan,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We have worked hard to keep our privately-owned facility well-maintained and up-to-date through the years. We are glad our staff was able to assist you and hope they made you feel welcome to be staying with us. Our convenient location in uptown Sedona makes it easy for guests to shop and dine without the need of a car. Although microwaves are not equipped in the rooms, guests may request for one upon request. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you in the near future!
