Great Place. we said in unit 50 and we had a great time. These are like condo's inside. Each unit is owned by someone, they decorate it, provide games, magazines etc...and the Junipine manages the hospitality of each unit. Our unit had a large master bedroom, lovely kitchen and a loft, plus a great view. ideally, this would be the place to stay with a family as we really did not need all the room for the two of us. We wanted to stay again this year and the price had gone up about 30%. That's crazy!

First, we are glad that you enjoyed your experience in #50 this past month. To address your concern, yes, we have raised our weekend rates an average of 3% per year since 1997 and with that we have added triple sheeted beds, upgraded cooking utensils/supplies, and new Serta mattress sets. For 2009 we are planning on bringing in new patio furniture. Our costs may rise in conjunction with economic pressures, but we do our best to retain the value that Junipine has always been known for. Your comments are heard and appreciated.

“A slice of heaven”

Junipine Resort

Jul 8, 2008

We just stayed one amazing week at Junipine over the 4th of July. What a beautiful setting!! In the middle of Oak Creek Canyon just outside Sedona, it was far enough outside of Sedona to be away from the tourism, yet close enough (7 amazing scenic miles into the canyon) to run into town whenever we wanted to. The best part is that Junipine was about 10 degrees cooler than Sedona.
The trout fishing was great on the creek, as are the hiking trails through some of the most beautiful scenery God created. The rooms are more "house" than rooms, large enough for 2 couples to share very comfortably. We slept 6 with no problem. Even though each creekhouse has a small kitchen, we enjoyed the resturant for breakfast everyday, and dinner was also very good when we didn't go into Sedona.
Junipine is probably the best value in the area. Certainly the most beautiful setting we have ever experienced!

“Loved Junipine! So cool and relaxing”

I visited Sedona many times and I always try to stay at Junipine. its one of my favorite places, very cool, fresh canyon, where everywhere else its hot. I stayed in different creekhouses, but this last one had a hot tub on the deck and we really enjoyed it in the evenings, with the views of Oak Creek canyon.
Some of these creekhouses are for sale and my husband and I are seriously considering this possibility.
What i like about Junipine is that you have a feeling of being in a remote location in nature, and yet you are close to everything, shops, restaurants and so on.

“Our best fall getaway!!!”

Junipine Resort

Jun 25, 2008

We have stayed at the Junipine every year for the past three years. We love it so much, we have made it a fall tradition. We love to go up in October when the leaves are changing colors and the weather is cool enough to light the fire at night.
It feels like a home away from home. With 3 kids, the 2 bedrooms, kitchen, and 2 bathrooms work out perfectly. The even have a loft, which the kids love to go up into and play. Of course they sleep down stairs at night, something about the skylight scares them. We love the hiking path behind the resort along the creek. And at night and early morning we sit on the deck listening to the creek and crickets wrapped in our blankets with hot chocolate. It is so peaceful for us, we will continue to come back every fall.

“Will not go back”

When we arrived on Sunday (June 15) afternoon we were told that the
cafe would be closed but room service would be available. They gave us a printed notice stating this. They also recommended a restaurant in Sedona, but when we tracked it down we found out that it was closed on Sundays. Since it was very hot in Sedona, and much cooler in Oak Creek canyon, we decided to get take-out from the hotel restaurant and enjoy it on our balcony. We stopped and bought a nice bottle of wine.
When we arrived back at 6:45, we found a message telling us
the cafe would be closed after 6:30. We called just in case but got
no answer. The front desk told us indeed they were closed and all the
staff had gone home. Of course, this meant a drive back into Sedona
for take-out--an hour we could have spent on our deck enjoying Junipine.

We did speak to the staff at the front desk about our concerns when we
checked out. The manager on duty was kind enough to discount our bill
by $25. However, she also told us that the cafe had ended up staying
open until 8:00 PM. This of course further frustrated us. This
incident considerably diminishes the experience we had at Junipine. We also wrote the manager a note, and he replied very quickly that we could come again and stay for free. The whole incident just made me feel bad, and we are not inclined to go back. Apparently the hotel and restaurant are separately owned. Also it is not made clear on Junipine's website that all of the units are individually owned--so it is the luck of the drawer if you get one that is nice or is outdated. I did not know that until we got there. I also find it interesting that there was another negative review of Junipine that I read when we got back. I couldn't help thinking that if I had read that before we had gone, we would have not stayed there. I do not see that review anylonger on Trip Advisor--it looks like it has been removed. We feel for the amount of money that they charge on a Sunday night that there are many other choices in Sedona that would be better.
