“Quiet and Peaceful Escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We were looking for a great break from the PHX heat and Junipine was the perfect spot! So quiet and peaceful - a plus to be further north of Sedona and Slide Roc - away from any crowd to enjoy the beauty of the red rocks! A perfect place to relax. The creek and picnic area are some of the BEST with green grass, picnic benches, bbq and you are right at the creek!

The Cafe breakfast was delicious and FAST.
Rooms were updated and it is always a plus to have a full kitchen available.
Decks were fantastic with lounge chairs and tables.

WIFI and regular cell reception for your phone or data cards are terrible. Although, the closer we were to the lobby the reliability to their WIFI was better. Clearly the only downfall, but, if you are looking to "unplug" --this is the place!

Room Tip: Cottages 1-8 are ideal -- close to lobby for better WIFI reception and amazing views of the creek...

It’s great to hear that you enjoyed your visit, and you definitely took advantage of the special amenities of our property. I’ll let the Café know that you had an excellent breakfast. There is only spotty cell reception in this part of the Canyon, and we do our best to provide basic wi-fi. Local calls and 800 number call are always free. For best results with our Wi-Fi, connect with a PC or a tablet, and you should have consistent service.

I read other reviews about this 'resort' and thought I would give it a try. I won't be back. Let me point out that the staff was very nice. However, here are three comments that should help you make up your own mind:

1. This is a condo complex, not a resort. No pool, small restaurant, no access to the river. Our unit #43 was a typical rent-a-condo. Not very comfortable, no small pillows on the sofa, some lights were burned out.

2. The trip back and forth to town is some distance, maybe 8-10 mites each way.

3. THE WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE IS HORRID! I had to re-connect to their router every time i wanted to check email. For some reason you do not stay 'logged in' while on the premises. When logged in, it similar to a phone line connection. Incredibly slow. If you plan on working during your stay, forget it. I complained upon check out and the manager said it is as good as they can get. Not true.

Thank you for staying with us at Junipine. I’m very sorry that your stay fell short of your expectations from our online reviews and I apologize for the issues with the burnt out lights and WI-FI. You are correct that by definition, we are not a traditional “resort hotel”. I do believe we accurately represent what Junipine is on our website and what amenities we offer our guests. Given our forest setting next to Oak Creek and our long history of operating as a unique retreat style resort for couples and families, we have maintained the original Junipine Resort name. If you planned to go into town every day, I do understand and appreciate your challenge with the distance. Some guests prefer our out of town feel and forest views, while other would prefer to be closer to the center of Sedona. In reference to the WI-FI, unfortunately our canyon location limits us to only one option for WI-FI service and we do have constraints on available bandwidth. Generally speaking, the service we offer works fine for browsing the internet and emails. It is our hope that new technology becomes available in Oak Creek Canyon in the near future that allows us to improve our service. I also wanted you to know that after I read your comment on your WI-FI log on challenges, I was able to make an adjustment that will improve the log on function. I regret any inconvenience or frustrations that your stay with us has caused you. Your patronage as well as your observations are very important to us and we hope you will give us a future opportunity to serve you again. If you choose to give us the pleasure of serving you in the near future, please contact me directly and I will ensure that your stay with us will be exceptional.

We were looking for a romantic getaway away from the main street Sedona, we found the place in Junipine Resort. Advance reservation will secure you a room with a nice view. Great / short hiking trail right of the property but most importantly, you can have a relaxing quite room with a full kitchen. We will be back!

Room Tip: Advance reservation will secure a room with a view!

The resort was nice but not worth the $300 a night....the cafe was not good at all which is too bad because its nice to have a restaurant on the grounds. Probably wont go back ...the creek is lovely and there is a hiking trail ....watch out when sitting on the deck , tree limbs fall on you

Thank you for staying with us at Junipine. I’m disappointed to hear that you felt that you did not receive the value you expected. Our creekhouses can accommodate up to 6 persons and we offer a living room, two bedrooms and a fully stocked kitchen, so our accommodations are probably comparable to a two bedroom suite in a standard hotel. Rates are also established by season with spring through fall being the peak season in the Sedona area. Regarding the Junipine Café, I apologize on behalf of the Café owners. I have forwarded your comments to them for their review and response. I hope you will consider staying with us again.

Our multigeneraltional family get together was interrupted several hours after we arrived by a significant family emergency. The Junipine management cancelled our reservations for 2 rooms for the weekend with no penalty charges. Amazing. They were compassionate and clearly understand how to offer customer service as we will definitely be going back as well as recommending their wonderful resort to our friends and acquaintances. Thank you Junipine.

Room Tip: Room 31 was great. kids loved the loft. fireplaces, clean, nicely set up. large bedrooms. 28 has le...

We LOVED it...I actually thought selfishly of not doing this review for fear we'd never get reservations at this property again. There are only 50 units, actually condos, individually owned so it is not a large property. If you love Sedona's red rocks and amazing views, this property delivers big time. Floor to ceiling windows in the living room and the master bedroom were filled with the red rock mountains...we got a creekside unit with spa and could hear the creek running all night long. The deck was nice sized and private with a round table and 4 chairs for breakfast, 2 lounge chairs to read (or nap) on in the afternoon and the jacuzzi off the bedroom deck area. We had a fire (couldn't resist) even though it was July...the evenings cooled off nicely. The West Fork of Oak Creek is just minutes away and that 5-hour hike back and forth over the creek is absolutely breathtaking and not really difficult if you are in reasonably good shape. Downside...not really a problem for us but there isn't the regular maid/clearning service like a traditional hotel so if you want clean towels, replenished shampoo or more firewood for the fireplace, you just have to call the front desk before noon and they will see it is done. You do have to make your own bed though...not such a hardship after all. They have room service when the restaurant is open (Tuesday through Saturday and until 2pm on Sunday) but we didn't use it. The condo had a great kitchen and everything we needed we picked up in the Safeway in Sedona.

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate on some of our services. Indeed, housekeeping is available by request each day, as we have found that most of our guests only need a few daily items. Of course, full service cleaning is available as well for a modest fee of $25.

Girls weekend: I really love Junipine- for the setting more than anything else. My girlfriend had the management line up 3 masseuses so we could all get massages when we arrived. Only 2 showed up but it wasn't a big deal. They set up their tables on the patio and it was the most amazing setting for a massage! Sedona was hot that weekend but it was at least 10 degrees cooler at Junipine so we were very comfortable. The master bedroom had 2 separate vanity areas. Last time I stayed, it was the case, as well. Not sure if they all have this or not. The restaurant there is very good, also. The room was very clean, although there was a slight musty smell as if the carpet on the stairs had been cleaned and not dried adequately. I overlooked this because we spend the entire time out on the deck so it really wasn't a big issue. Newly remodeled kitchen with ss LG appliances.

Thanks for your complimentary words. I’m sorry the carpet felt like it wasn’t entirely dry upon your arrival. Massages on the deck? We have had more and more guests taking advantage of the shade, the view, and the peace/quiet by having an outdoor massage. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us.
