We stayed at The Sunset Chateau from May 18th – 24th and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The property is situated at the top of the hill where you overlook West Sedona and gorgeous views of Capital Butte (aka Thunder Mountain) and Coffee Pot Rock as well as more Red Rocks to the left and right of the B&B.
ROOM:
We arrived and checked in very quickly with Jean and headed up to our room. We were in the Pueblo Bonito Room #16. Absolutely beautiful and just perfect for us. It is decorated beautifully and felt very warm and cozy inside. We had a little kitchenette which had a coffee maker, microwave oven and a nice size fridge to store food and some ice in the freezer. Paper towels, plates, cups, wine glasses, bowls are all supplied to you as well as a wine opener. They supplied plenty of coffee packs and sugar in the room. A blow dryer and a clock radio with alarm is also supplied. The shower was big enough for two. If there is something you need, just ask them. They are happy to oblige. The balcony was nice and large with two tables provided. Yes, there is only a partition that separates you from your neighbor next door but it really wasn’t a big deal and we still felt like we had privacy. This room is situated at the very top of the road, right on the corner, and for us, it was just perfect. I have posted pictures of the room and their website depicts the place perfectly.
FOOD:
People here on TA have posted some negative reviews on the breakfasts that are offered each day. We never had one bad meal. We thought the food was fantastic and a little more upscale as far as presentation goes from your normal, average breakfast. Every day we had something different. Eggs Benedict, French toast, Ham and Eggs, Omelet’s, to name a few. If there was something you did not like, you can ask to have something different and they will try to accommodate you the best they can. We never had a problem communicating with the staff and usually the owners are around if you need assistance. Their dining area is very nice and comfortable and the outside patio is very nice to sit out and overlook the red rocks.
GROUNDS:
This place is beautifully decorated and landscaped throughout. They have a little stream that runs through the Chateau with a little waterfall and it was so nice to hear that from our balcony every day. There are chairs, hammocks and swing benches throughout the place where you can find a little spot to relax and just take in the beauty of the place. The pool area had a Jacuzzi with a Kiva fireplace which you can use pretty late in the evening if not all night! It was very welcoming after a long day of hiking. The view from the pool area is excellent. The murals that the owner Janet has painted throughout the grounds are absolutely stunning.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. This place is located at the top of Sunset Drive and there are many amenities close by and you do not have to drive too far to get to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The Airport Loop trail is literally right across the street from their front entrance and it is a great, easy hike to do and everyone should walk it if they can. There are great views all around the trail.
We absolutely loved Sedona and everything it had to offer and this lovely B&B added to our amazing trip to this beautiful majestic place.
