“Our Sedona favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

This is a little gem of a place but not fancy. We've stayed in fancy condo resorts in Sedona but prefer Sky ranch and now only consider staying here. The staff is very help and friendly with views way above overlooking Sedona. I miss it already.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the courtyard near the office. Quail run wild here and it's a short walk t...

We have been staying at the Sky Rance Lodge in Sedona for the past 20 years. It is a small older bungalow type establishment. The best rooms are the single story garden view rooms in the oldest part of the property.

It sits atop Airport Mesa and besides the small airport, is the only other place there. It is an easy drive down into the main part of town or the tourist section.from the property.

Because it is very close to one of the Sedona Vortexes ( a negative one) you get a sense of relaxation and peace.

The place is older but well maintained and the gardens are a joy to relax in. They have recently opened a wine terrace which over looks the entire Sedona valley below.

Sky Ranch Lodge is the only place to stay for us

Room Tip: Stay in the garden rooms

The Sky Ranch Lodge was a great time. Went in late October 2013. The local supermarket was a nice place to stock the mini kitchen (great deals on booze). The Rim Room was the best. GREAT views, fireplace, deck, big bed. There is a wine bar, hot tub, and pool. Would definitely go back! Up the road from a Vortex if you're into that sort of thing. Have recommended to family and friends!

Room Tip: Go for the Rim Room!

This place is such a good deal . Beautiful location, clean rooms, heated pool and nice jacuzzi. People at the front desk were cordial. Close to good restaurants. We went on three great hikes, all within a 15-40 minute drive.

We stayed the Sky Ranch Lodge for 3 nights. Our room was clean and cool with AC running (stayed in June). Our room was always remade by the time we were back from adventuring out. Sky Ranch Lodge is an older property but well kept, and rates are quite reasonable. The views of Sedona were incredible from the private viewing area on the property, and made our stay even more special. Sky Ranch has the best viewing spot high above Sedona with the red rocks surrounding it! You can't find a better place. (Just outside of the property there are people fighting to park and get a spot to view the sunsets in a small public viewing area.) One evening coming back from the pool we came across a small herd of wild javelinas!

it's all about expectations. This is NOT a spa, resort or deluxe hotel. It IS a down-home, simple, spotlessly clean and well-kept property with views of the mountains that take your breath away. Want to get up early, watch the sunrise and hike right out the door? done. Want to travel a very short distance to spectacular, hidden hiking trails, then head back to soak in the hot tub in a quiet, tranquil setting? done. Rooms are simple. But the price is extremely reasonable. I'm coming back!

Room Tip: Some buildings are two story - don't stay on the bottom floor unless you want to memorize your u...

The Sky Ranch Lodge has been around for awhile (my mother stayed there decades ago), so if you desire the most modern of accommodations you'll probably want to look elsewhere. However, I can almost guarantee you that your view won't be as good nor the rates so cheap. We spent Christmas Eve at the lodge, which is located up on Airport Mesa, and, with a room on the western edge of the complex, you could spend the time waiting for Santa in worse ways than watching the sun set over Sedona. You can also walk down to the observation scopes below the hotel or walk all the way around the mesa from your front door, if you're so inclined

As for the room, it was a large, clean double with kitchenette, big patio doors to take in the views from inside once it got chilly, gas jet fireplace, and no problems to speak of. This is the only hotel where I can recall getting a cold call to see if I was happy with my room. There was also a follow-up thank you e-mail.

I'd certainly recommend the Sky Ranch Lodge and hope to stay there again myself. I probably still won't get my aura photographed though.

Room Tip: There are several different buildings and not all the rooms have sweeping views over Sedona. But, as...
