“Wonderful Week at L'Auberge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

My Mother and I spent a week at L'Auberge in a Creekside Cottage. WONDERFUL staff. My Mother has allergies and can not have feather pillows or bedding. Them made sure we had plenty of featherless pillows and blankets. I slept on the pull out and it was quite comfortable for a pull out. I slept with the door open every night so I could hear the creek. Such a wonderful sound!!
The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Grounds people were very aware and the gentlemen using blowers kept them low and would turn them off if we were passing by or on our porch. VERY considerate!
I agree the morning coffee with the muffins and scones is week, but you have a Keurig coffee maker in your room with a selection of coffee. The scones and muffins were wonderful, as were the cookies in the afternoon. Chocolate chip was the best.
My mother uses a scooter or a cane and she had no problem getting around the property. The paths are wonderful but I'm not sure how you could get lost with the creek on one side and the hill on the other.
Food in the restaurant was wonderful and room service was GREAT!!
Yoga with Katie was wonderful. Vacation Yoga as she put it. She always asked if there were areas we wanted to work on- Lower back from long drive, legs from hiking, etc..
Plenty of quiet places to sit and enjoy the creek. Staff was always friendly and helpful. LOVED this place and we will be back!!

Room Tip: Creek side is the way to go, though the lodge looked very nice as well. Depends on what you are look...

We are very pleased to hear that you and your mother enjoyed your stay with us! Daily Yoga is one of our favorite offerings and glad that you enjoyed it as well. We hope your return soon...maybe in the fall to experience the changing colors of Sedona!

I stayed two nights over Spring Break at L'Auberge and enjoyed the pool, creek/riverfront, walkways, fireplaces, lobby, fine dining, free stargazing, valet parking, and other amenities.

I was amazed at how kind and helpful the staff was, especially considering all tipping is included in the resort fee so you do not need to carry small bills.

It was impressive how many families with young children were staying there - this is not an adults getaway, but it was quiet, calm, and lovely to be there. I never felt bothered and it always felt spacious (except for the hot tub).

I booked a Vista Cottage which according to the website and reviews provided a magnificent view of the Sedona red hills. What I did not expect was that I had to abut a parking lot and a view of roughly 60-80 cars plus a busy driveway, then the resort and finally the beautiful view. I was actually shocked by the tight, packed-in buildings all clustered around a hard-scape of parking lots and drive ways to move from our room to the rest of the hotel property. I think the resort owners got greedy and chose to squeeze in a few too many rooms only to sacrifice tranquility and ambiance. Of course the high price did not reflect this unfortunate compromise.

The spacious room which included a very luxurious bathroom with outdoor shower, was very comfortable and relaxing.

Forget about the gym - a 2 star motel has more equipment and space. The pool which also abutted the parking lot was not very inviting.

If you do choose to stay at L'Auberge de Sedona, stay in a room on the creek side of the parking lot.

On a positive note, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the quality of food and service was excellent. If you are visiting Sedona, definitely consider visiting the restaurant at this property for a meal.

We stayed at L'auberge for 4 nights over spring break. First the pros:

1. Beautiful property on a lovely creek;
2. Good size rooms;
3. The people are very nice and try hard;
4. Good location. It's pretty central to everything and you can walk to a lot of shops and restaurants;
5. Free water all around, bottled or otherwise;
6. Duck feedings every morning. Something that our 4 year old loved; and
7. The workers don't accept tips. It's so nice not to have to dig around for a few dollars everything you ask for something or get your car, etc.

Now to the cons:

1. Their maintenance department seems to have dropped the ball. In our one room, there were 3 lights that were out and not working. These are not enormous rooms or anything. It's not that hard to check to see if lights are working. It was obviously not checked. The door to the bathroom would not shut. This would not be a problem, except that the toilet is facing the bed and there is no separate door for the toilet. So if someone is laying on the bed, the person sitting on the toilet is staring at them unless the door is closed. When the door won't close, it's a problem. We had to call to get it fixed. Isn't that something you should check before renting the room out?

2. Housekeeping doesn't seem to be on the ball either. Our son dropped a lollipop in the room and it shattered. We picked up the big pieces but needed a vacuum cleaner for the smaller ones so we figured housekeeping would take care of it. After housekeeping came and went, the pieces of lollipop were all still there. There was mold inside the pot they give you to boil water. Disgusting! We asked for a roll away and they brought it without a pillow or blanket. Had to call for both. Even after calling, they didn't bring the pillow. Had to call again and ask for it. Asked for turn down service. They knocked on our door at 9:30 at night to see if we wanted turn down even though they knew we had a 4 year old in there. Who provides turn down service at 9:30?

3. Ordered room service 3 nights out of the four. They batted 100% in getting things wrong. Each night we had to call with something that was wrong, missing, etc.

4. They have an amenity that sounds lovely: Coffee and scones in the morning. When you go to get it, the coffee is so weak and watery, it's not even worth drinking. So I tried the tea. The hot water they put out was put there in a pot that previously had coffee in it. So the hot water tasted like coffee with a teabag in it. Again, disgusting. If you are going to spend the money to provide this amenity, spend a little more and do it right. When you scrimp on it, it just makes you look bad. How much would it cost to add a few scoops of coffee every morning to the weak coffee? I heard 2 other couples complaining about this when we were there. Either don't do it, or do it right.

5. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. I came home with a bad back because of the beds. They look nice and are clean but you sink into them. For me, it was so uncomfortable that I did not get a good nights sleep while there.

With a few minor tweaks, this could be a great hotel. However, it is annoying to have to call four or five different times every day for various things that don't work, are dirty, are missing. With a little bit more training, this would have been a lovely hotel. As it is now, it falls short.

First time to L'Auberge and to Sedona. Had an amazing stay thanks in large part to the experience at the hotel. Service was incredible. Everyone from check-in to valet (especially Chase at valet and Natalia at front desk) to the restaurant staff were attentive and very courteous. Great activities--definitely do the star gazing. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and the views were breathtaking. Hated leaving the hotel. Will definitely return!

Room Tip: Two choices of rooms----ones down by the stream (wooded area, no views, but really nice) and the one...

Stayed 2 nights here - wonderful experience! Beds and rooms were spacious and comfortable. Restaurant was good but very pricey. Great wine list but they need more moderately priced wines on the list in the $40-$70 range. Lots of fun activities offered - star gazing and yoga.

great property and definitely has earned the 5 star rating. rooms are all mimi-cabins (unless you stay in the one building that has traditional hotel rooms) which are wonderful. we preferred the mountain view rooms looking over the red rocks but friends who had a creekside cabin loved that. very tranquil and easy walking distance to the shops (Starbucks included!) and the pink jeep team will come pick you up from the hotel if you choose that experience. very kid friendly but it's a quiet place. Note that all gratuitues (other than restaurants) are already built in to your room charge... so no tipping the bellman, room service housekeeping etc.) concierge was also very good at recommending activities both in sedona and to/from grand canyon.

Room Tip: go on the website and decide if you want to be int eh woods "creekside" or have the view o...
