for two nights with breakfast and dinner included, we stayed in arustic cabin on their grounds. the room had a king bed with sitting area and a small frig. we had a porch with views of sandstone mountains along with a table and chairs. the meals were exquisite and the staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful. we sat with a different couple each night . randomly assigned or you can choose your own seating arrangements. people have been coming each year on the same dates which is a nice touch. we were able to get reservations on the internet for 2 weekdays a few weeks in advance, however , we were told that is rare. it was 250 per night which is not a lot for what you are getting. happy travels

I hope my writing this review doesn't cause Garland's to be overrun by looky-loos, but I can't pass on the opportunity to share my experiences with this location. My wife and I were lucky to get a four day stay in/around end of July some fifteen years ago. Back then, someone cancelled their reservation and we haven't given up our spot since.

The one word that describes Garland's is "authentic." The cabins are comfortable and clean, but do not have TV's and Radios (though I will bring a CD player along). It is back to nature, but not roughing it. The biggest highlight is the cuisine that is fabulous. Two years back the chef finally shared some of her recipes in a cook book and we ordered about 12 copies! When you come for dinner, order the peach daquris. They grow most of their food in their own gardens, so freshness is absolute.

This is not the made for TV luxury hotels found down in town, but rather a touch of class within a natural setting. As it is located in Oak Creek, there is a little rain in the evening and once there was a fire on the mountain, but it is all part of the authentic experience. There is not a single location that comes close to this spot. Bring your favorite novel and be prepared for several naps during the day. This place is really the best -- but don't tell too many people or they will raise the rent.

“Red rock luxury”

For over 100 years the Garland family has homesteaded and sheltered guests in their tranquil canyon about 7 miles north of Sedona, AZ. The log cabins scattered throughout the property may look rustic but they lack nothing in the way of creature comforts unless a phone and TV are more important to comfort than a stone fireplace, a burbling brook and a front porch rocking chair. Accomodations include breakfast and dinner and I can assure you that both will be long remembered. Almost all the vegitable and fruit are home grown and the menus reflect a kitchen that truly respects good food. Try the fresh fruit compote followed by fresh caught trout and corn oysters for breakfast. Incredible! Cocktails are served at 5:30 followed by dinner an hour later. The wine list is limited but first class and the dress code is western casual. Expensive but well worth it in every respect.
