“Apple Orchard Inn + Marc = A Wonderful Sedona Experience”

Apple Orchard Inn

Petersburg, MI
Jun 19, 2008

As first -time travelers to Arizona and Sedona area in particular we had to rely on guide books (Fodor's), the internet and word of mouth to figure out where we wanted to stay. We took a chance on The Apple Orchard Inn in Sedona, and we were well-rewarded. A wonderful, scenic, quiet and comfortable inn off the very busy beaten path of Sedona--far enough to experience the quite tranquility and beauty of the Red rocks region but withing walking distance of uptown. Their website is very good and describes the inn to a tee. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed with all the amenties. The terrace, where we had a delightful breakfast, had a beautiful mountain backdrop, complete with hummingbirds. Adjacent to the terrace was a cozy hot tub and cooling tub--perfect for the cocktail hour or a nice glass of wine after a hot day in the desert. Homemade cookies and varieties of trail mix were always available.

But a key ingredient was the innkeeper--Marc is back ! Although we could only stay one night and part of two days, Marc treated us as friends and returning guests. He treated us warmly at the door, gave us a tour of the facilities and provided needed information about the town, travel and surrounding areas. Of course, we plied him with questions. All his advice was spot one ---from how to negotiate the local traffic problems, where to eat, what jeep tour to take, what places to avoid on the Oak Creek Valley drive (stay away from Slide Rock on the way to Flagstaff), to what to expect in "Flag". He volunteered to make arrangments for us. Even the day we were leaving he offered us use of the inn for a "base" and made reservations for us at The Asylum Restaurant (also wonderful) at the top of the mountain in the nearby Ghost City of Jerome (Must go to Jerome !)

We have traveled often and used to use to stay at B&B's a lot, though lately have taken to more commercial establishments and resorts. Marc and The Apple Orchard Inn showed us what we have been missing. We will be back !

Bon Chance Marc, The Inn and Fellow Travelers !

“The Inn's Back on Track!”

This was our third time back at the Apple Orchard Inn. We stayed there two times when Marc & Peg were running it, and they were the most pleasurable vacations we had. The staff & service were superb! The concierge services were above and beyond any I've ever experienced. Truly great staff running it.

The beginning of our last visit was with a new innkeeper and we were disappointed the familiarities we've come to enjoy (and expect) were no longer present - the comfortable & relaxing walk through upon arrival, concierge services were non-existent, no late afternoon appetizers, and the warm & fuzzy feeling was absent. However, during the middle of our stay - Marc showed up to whip things back into shape. The remainder of our stay was as delightful and enjoyable as when we first discovered this beautiful Inn.

Message to Horrible ... give it another shot. Don't let one bad experience keep you from going back. It's definitely a place worth visiting over and over, especially now that it's back on track.

“Horrible”

Apple Orchard Inn

Apr 24, 2008

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Apple Ochard Inn for this birthday and it was the worst experience. The inn keeper was rude and not so friendly. Breakfast was horrible. To top it all, an inn staff walked into our room while we were napping.

I would suggest that you think twice about staying here.

“Lovely place to stay in Sedona”

Apple Orchard Inn

Feb 19, 2008

We arrived here on Valentine's Day and were warmly greeted by David and wife Nancy (the warm choc. chip cookies were great!) They immediately wanted to get us dinner reservations - something we hadn't even thought about and they called around and did so. Couldn't have asked for nicer "hosts"! We were also greeted in our room with a Valentine's card to us (computer generated no doubt but still a nice thought!) and a bowl of yummy Hershey kisses - definitely a good place to be on Valentine's Day!

We stayed in the "Canyon Room" - a very S. Western feel to the decor. King bed was comfy - room not overly big but certainly adequate - unless you spend all your time in your room - which is hard to do in Sedona! The "jacuzzi" tub was nice and worked ok in our room (someone else said here theirs didn't) and a small fridge built in under bathroom sink with complimentary water and soft drinks was nice. If any complaint at all - it was the noisy bathroom fan but we didn't run it for long!

Next morning the breakfast room was full but people were interesting to chat to and breakfast was soon served and it was delicious. Nancy was nice to enough to give us some great advice for shopping and sightseeing. We were only here one night - would've liked to stay longer - maybe next time! Our room had own patio and private entrance - no view ,but if you don't mind not having private entrance there are rooms with great views (and more cost!) We thought our room was excellent value and the Inn itself a wonderful place to stay!

“Average B&B experience in lovely Sedona”

Apple Orchard Inn

I spent 2 restful nights at the Apple Orchard Inn. David greeted us upon arrival and was particularly friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the second day was quite good. While the place was comfortable enough, much could be improved. The rooms could use some updating and perhaps smaller furniture so they don't feel so cramped. The jacuzzi tub in my room did not work, which was a significant disappointment. The vent in the bathroom was exceedingly loud. Finally, I inadvertently left a very light article of clothing behind for which they are going to charge my card for the shipping to send it to me... this seemed petty and unprofessional to me.
