I thought the physical setting was just beautiful. The sycamore trees are exceptional, the gardens/fountains/flowers baskets/lighting and Mexican theme are wonderful. I liked the layout with the different courtyards, connecting halls/passageways. The little white lights on the trees, in the trees and other places gives a great touch. The art galleries are both numerous and interesting. I would have liked to see a wider selection of shops, though. I feel bad even writing that statement, however! Even if you do not want to shop, just wandering around for 30 minutes is peaceful and enjoyable.

We stopped by there on our way home. I agree with what the other reviewers said that it was just a shopping center with a Mexican facade. It was meant to look like a Mexican village, but it bordered on being too cute. Other than it being very difficult to park there, nothing in there really stood out.

I loved this little shopping village. There is more shade than the downtown shopping area. The architecture is charming with cobblestone walkways and the courtyards are filled with beautiful plants and sculptures. I enjoyed lunch with a friend on the patio at Rene. They have a great selection of ice teas. We spent a nice afternoon wondering through the shops and galleries and enjoyed an ice cream along one of the shady verandas. The stores and galleries are not inexpensive but prices are similar to other shops in Sedona. We parked in the hotel parking by mistake but we had no problem validating the ticket at the open market adjacent to the hotel and village entrance. The green chile salsa sold at the open market is excellent. During my second visit to Sedona, my husband and I returned to the Tlaquepaque village and enjoyed lunch at The Oak Creen Brewery. Don't miss this hidden treasure, we drove by the entrance to the village the first time we headed into town. It is worth a visit.

Let me first state that I LOVE Mexican shopping villages, especially those found around San Diego. However, this place was so bland and absolutely nothing like others I've visited in the past.

In my opinion, the village is simply a facade to attract prospective timeshare buyers into the 'compound.' After a mediocre, overpriced dinner at the Mexican restaurant, we walked around for exactly 5 minutes before realizing there was absolutely nothing to see or do there. While touring this place, my husband and I turned to each other and uttered the words "TOURIST TRAP."

Additionally, I had the same issue as the previous reviewer regarding the confusing entrance to this place. The shopping mall is located BEHIND the resort and all of the kiosks pushing tours of timeshares.

Only visit if you are truly bored, and if you have kids, skip it completely.

This is a beautiful place to stop and walk around. They are open late one night a month (first Friday). The shops are lovely and the grounds and artwork are definitely worth a look.
