My wife and I wanted a nice steak dinner and decided Capital Grille was our best option after reading the reviews and checking out the website. The restaurant itself it very nice, comfortable seating, staff was helpful and service very good. Unfortunately the food was below average. We decided to start with the calamari appetizer. It came out fairly quickly but was one of the worse I have ever had. Half the plate was still dripping in oil and after eating a few I felt like I was going to have a heart attack from the salt and oil mix. I figured a high end steak house we would have large fresh pieces delicately fried and served with some kind of sauce. Instead no sauce, some hot peppers mixed in and small deeply fried calamari like you would get at a cheap fish n chip place. Our steaks which we ordered medium rare both came out almost well done. My wife had the house special delmonico steak which was so salty so couldn't have more than a few bites. I had the sirloin which was a nice big cut up so over done it tasted like nothing. We also had two sides, the creamed spinach and the potato gratin. Both had ungodly amounts of cream and salt, again we had a few bites and couldn't have anymore. With the wine and gratuity we spend $200 on a terrible meal. I would recommend a different steakhouse in Scottsdale until the chef figures out how to cook. This was a Sunday night so maybe the regular chef had the night off?
