The title just about sums it up. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay, this is the place at $45/night. The hotel actually just did some renovation...modern interior...and they did a decent job. Modern furniture and accessories, quartz tile in bathroom, brushed nickel fixtures.

The bad news:
1.) Had to kill a one inch cockroach one night
2.) Kids next door were playing heavy metal music...tried to go to front desk to ask for different room to sleep in, but they closed the front desk at midnight. Whoever heard of a front desk closing?!?
3.) First night, shower faucet was leaking badly...but was fixed the following day.

Overall, you basically get what you pay for. Kudos on the efforts to renovate...thumbs down on front desk closing early and roaches.

At first I was a little hesitant to book my room at 3 palms because a few of the reviews were mixed.
I agree that the rooms are small, but I don't usually vacation to stay in my room all day anyway so this was not really a draw-back. The room I stayed in had nice new furniture and very clean bedding and the room was super clean. I am not sure if all of the rooms have them but mine did have a small refridgerator as well as free bottles of water and soda.
The location is what I liked the most, the lake and a big park are right across the street .
The price was right and I don't have any complaints.

We stayed for four nights in May (King bed standard room- no whirlpool), my fiance and I had a car so the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do- Mayo clinic, Chase field, waterpark, orchards, downtown Scottsdale. I was pleased with him for finding it because it was about $20 - $60 cheaper per night than Comfort Inn/Days Inn and similar hotels and it has been renovated and is quite a bit nicer. It is an older motel property that has been updated with outside entry which I normally do not like but it was okay and quite clean. The pool area is well above average for a hotel of this class, the rooms are small but nice, clean with higher end fixtures. The perks were: fridge, bath robes, down comforters, comfortable beds, and free internet. We didnt' order room service and the only restaurants in walking distance were Denny's and Taco Bell but this wasn't a problem for us. Limited spa services were available and reasonably priced but we didn't try them. Maid service was very good, our only complaint is that they didn't give us a new little bar of soap without specific request.

We had read reviews and knew in advance to expect:
1. the walls to be thin and thus the rooms loud. It wasn't busy when we were there and it seemed like they tried to space out the patrons so it wasn't a problem for us but it definately would be if the hotel was at full capacity and there were heavy partiers present.
2. shortage of electrical outlets- on the second day we found a three way cord attached to the coffee maker to plug our cell phones into to
3. our room was small but the bed huge, it is fine for two people but I expect the two queen bed rooms are tighter.
4. no onsite restaurant- since we knew in advance we just planned to go downtown scottsdale anyway.

Overall we were pleased with our stay and would probably stay again because it was the best overall value in the area that met our needs.

“Great place for a frat party”

3 Palms

May 15, 2008

3 Palms has decent rooms, seemingly comfy beds and the surrounding area is very nice. The problem I have had the two times I have stayed there is the EXCESSIVE noise level at night. Even after repeated calls (at least 5) to the management office, the all-night parties never stop! The screaming and running around outside my door from 10 pm until 4 or 5 am tends to be a little upsetting. I have stayed in the middle of the week each time and in different parts of the motel with the same problem. In the morning the walkways are always littered with beer bottles and trash. So if you are looking for an awesome place to have a frat party - I highly recommend the 3 Palms. If you are a mature adult that works for a living, do not waste your money!!!

My experience at 3 palms was a very good one. The staff were very nice. I booked at hotels.com, and 3 palms did not get the reservations. 3 palms took care of us anyway. The beds were VERY comfortable and the rooms were nice. They were a little small, but we didn't come to stay in the room anyway. I am going to book with them again this summer.
