If you are headed to old town, this place is in the right spot. You can walk to all sorts of shopping and eateries. The hotel had some construction going on when I was there and they claimed that they had been recently updated. To that I say, you can only do so much with an old building.
Arrival: The front of the hotel faces the street but the parking garage entrance is between the door and the street so it's not real obvious where the check in area is if you're new. The lobby area is very nice and clearly some work has been done here.
The room: The elevators are an indication of the age of this building. I was on the 5th floor and found the stairs to be much faster than the 2 elevators. The room upon first entrance had that disinfectant smell of an older hotel room. The room was very clean and the smell kind of goes away after you're in there for a while. The beds were comfortable to me.
I did not eat at the hotel or work out but I checked out the facilities and they were typical. When it's 75 in Phoenix, you run outside.
One really nice feature is the free self park in the garage. I have parked a car in this area in the sun at other times of the year and did I mention it was free? Not like the more expensive Marriott across the street who charges $10 a day to park your own car.
Overall a nice clean place, very friendly staff, and not a bad price for the area.
