Paying $300 per night at this hotel you would think one would be entitled to a little rest and relaxation. Think again, my friends. Marriott at McDowell Mountains is right next to Scottsdale airport and it is right in the flight path for incoming and outgoing planes. The planes start flying over around 6am and run 10-15 per hour through out the day. It is so loud I had to close my balcony door, and even then you can still hear the planes. I slept with earplugs and a pillow over my head last night but the planes still woke me up this morning. The beds are nice and it is quiet when planes aren't flying over, but I was constantly reminded of the outside world both by the plane noise and whenever my neighbors flush their toilet, mine flushes too. Got to love it. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway.... stay somewhere else. Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains isn't for you.

I love this hotel! The setting is gorgeous, the staff is friendly, and the beds are to die for. The breakfast buffet is also awesome. The hotel is small and charming. The location is perfect and the staff makes you feel like you are at a cozy bed and breakfast. We will definitely be back!

“Surprise at the Marriott at McDowell Mountains”

After reading all of the excellent reviews, we decided to choose this Marriott. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was excellent; however there was one problem that was never mentioned...the Scottsdale Airport! We did not realize how close this hotel was to the airport until we were sitting by the pool the next day. If you don't mind the sound of airplanes flying close by or landing throughout the day and night, then this hotel is a good choice.

We stayed here for Easter break and had a wonderful time. The rooms are fabulous and the beds were so comfortable. It felt like a mini-resort vacation. The kids enjoyed the pool and the pool table and had lots of fun at the Easter egg hunt. The location was very convenient to shopping and restaurants and we loved having views of the mountains and the golf course. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We look forward to staying here again!

Our family stayed here for spring break. The staff at the hotel from reservations personnel to valet was outstanding and accomodated all our needs. We had a choice between a pool view and a mountain view. We chose the latter on the third floor which gave us glorious panoramas of the mountains. I can't say enough, though, about the concierge, JK. She was fabulous! She sent me tons of helpful info. via email on nearby restaurants, spas and recreation. When we arrived, she went out of her way to assist w/golf, horseback riding, etc. We've stayed in N. Scottsdale and Paradise Valley a number of times, but no concierge was this outstanding.

The only drawback for me (being a light sleeper) was the early morning flights into the regional airport. No one else in my family noticed, however. The location of the hotel was very convenient to many golf courses, shopping and restaurants. Eateries are definitely better in N. Scottsdale than Paradise Valley area. In all, it was a great experience for the adults and teens in our group. If you enjoy a more intimate, boutique style hotel, rather than a megacomplex, this would be your ticket.
