“FANTASTIC LOCATION AND EXCEPTIONAL STAFF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Location is great, walking distance to most everything. My stay was extended and I could not have asked for better staff. They treated me almost like family. Kristy the manager has done an excellent job staffing this quaint little place. Front desk staff always willing to help in anyway....housekeeping was great....and Thomas the maintenance man keeps the grounds beautiful. Loved my stay.....heads up to the owner....keep this staff.....they are one of a kind making this a big thumbs up!!!!
Thanks to all......Kelly

Room Tip: My corner ground floor room was quite and nice.

My wife and I spent one night at this "HoJo" - we wanted a cheap stop-over during a long drive through the area. The HoJo met our needs - it was great value at $55. For this price we got a room with a king-sized bed, satellite TV, free wireless internet, bath/shower, coffee maker, fridge, and air conditioning; as well we got a solid contintental breakfast. We dealt with three pleasant and helpful staff members (including the manager), who offered information on local sights and services. The hotel is located within easy driving distance (and walking distance, if you can handle the heat!) of Scottsdale's arts and nightlife districts. We did not use the hotel's pool.

Our only problem was one that other reviewers have mentioned - noisy air-conditioning. Even at the "low" setting, the unit was noisy. We slept through it, but it might be too noisy for very light sleepers.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if you have mobility issues. A couple of rooms face onto the busy India...

From the outside, it looks like a budget motel, but:
-- it's in the middle of a great location, tons of good restaurants and bars. There is a big park with a small lake and fountains, right there by the Scottsdale Library, 2 blocks away
-- rooms are nice and clean, well maintained, bed was soft, a/c unit worked fine.
-- walking distance to the business district as well. If you are there on business, that is handy. Only one block.
If you arrive after 11pm, food will be hard to find. Prepare to go bars and dance. And yes, it's a safe neighborhood but watch yourself at night, lots of friendly drunk people.

Overall, good value!

Room Tip: Choose second floor

Great location walking distance to all of old town, the canal if biking, art center, with diverse options for dining! Upon arrival my reservation was not as promised--king bed second floor. The person @ the desk said someone moved this so will see what I have! Second floor but 2 queens, and it was not even 1/2 full. Upon entering room was clean with standard AC/Heating. There is a microwave, coffee, refrig, iron/ironing board and hair dryer in the room. The frig froze my fruit, and the control for the TV only worked if stood directly in front of the TV. Returned one of the hand towels for a replacement as it was stained. There is no mat in the tub so slipping and sliding is an issue. Upon departure asked where the mat might be and was told, you must ask for one! There is free tea/fruit/coffee 24/7 and w/ stay a continental breakfast is included. Did not embark on any of the breads, muffins, bagels, and or yogurt but there is ample for all. The juice was fine and packages of oatmeal and tea were available.
My BIGGEST complaint which cost me a night of peaceful sleep was the AC which rattled and banged when running even on low. Thus, a lost night with getting up to turn it off, then needing to get up to turn it on, July in AZ. The bed was comfy and it was adorned with a lovely comforter. I'd return but would do a complete CHECK before I settled in for the night with a mat for the tub!

Room Tip: I'd suggest second floor middle away from stair traffic. If children, not into climbing or walki...
