We came to this resort for 2 nights after spending 3 nights in Tucson. The driveway into the property was inviting. Check-in was quick, and the employee was pleasant although a little indifferent. We got to our room, walked in and I noticed an odor immediately. I couldn't quite decipher what it was, but it was just an odd smell. The room was older, although it was larger than a typical hotel room. The bathroom was tiny, with a single sink, and tub/shower combo. I was told later it is a Kiva style room. There was a small patio w/table & chairs outside of the room. I spoke with the front desk clerk about the room (my reservation information was for an "oversized bathroom with separate shower"). That definitely was not our room. He offered to move us to another room or give us a reduced rate for the 2 nights. I also told him that the room needed to be aired out. We ended up staying in the room and taking a reduced rate. He seemed genuinely concerned and kindly accommodated us. Although I wonder if he would have accommodated us if I hadn't had my reservation printout. Our rate included a daily breakfast buffet in Rita's Kitchen. The buffet was wonderful. There was an omelette bar, and pastries, fresh fruits, and more. The waitstaff was very pleasant each morning. We both enjoyed a spa treatment and took advantage of the spa pool for the day (included with a spa/salon service). The pool was very picturesque and relaxing. The main pool was nice too, although the spa pool was much nicer and had comfy chairs. The hotel grounds, lobby and restaurant areas are all very beautiful with an "old" Arizona feel, and overall we were very pleased and would stay again if given the opportunity. The only thing I would change is that I am sure we were given one of the lower end rooms at the resort. And although it was large and clean, it didn't stand up to my expectations.
