“Nice hotel especially because of the outdoor-area, rooms nothing special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2005

We had a Regency Club Room, which was OK, a little bit dark, but overlooking the lagoon (= 3 Points). Regency -Club is closed in some months (so as June) AVEDA bath-products are nice. About 10 nice pools outside. The Vu-Restaurant (the expensive one, was at least overpriced, especially the wines by the glass {USD 10.-- + tax and gratuity for the cheapest Chile or Napa red-wine by the glass). No free e-Mail checking was bad. There is a t-mobile hotspot W-LAN but this Service is definitely overpriced for just checking e-mails.
Try out the horseback-riding. Was a nice stable (about a 40 min. car-ride away; they pick you up and bring you back for USD 10.--). The Venetian gondoliere-ride might be nice, but could also be bad if you’re staying in a room overlooking lagoon and hear them singing (really bad singing) the whole night.

I went to the hotel for a conference in mid-April and stayed for the weekend after the conference. I was very glad that I read the reviews here and asked for a quiet room. I was given a room with a courtyard view and had no problem sleeping but some of the others at the conference had rooms over the bar or the delivery service area and they did not get much sleep at all. The music in the open air lobby bar is very loud and goes on until very late. I was there Monday night through Sunday morning and the music was there every night. It was very enjoyable to listen while you were downstairs but I can imagine trying to sleep anywhere near that area.

The rooms are comfortable but small and sparsely furnished. The fitness center did not open until 6 pm which is fine if you are on vacation but not if you have an early meeting. This is the first hotel where I have been unable to get them to open the door early so I could work out. The process was really frustrating since the employees seemed unable to answer any questions. The fitness center had only 4 treadmills, one EFX and a few bikes. It was packed immediately every morning at 6 and there was even an argument between 2 guests over a machine one morning. The recreation service fee is an insult for the very small fitness center, tennis, and bikes (that you can only ride through the local office parks) especially if you are there for a meeting and have little time for recreation. They should have waited until the spa center was open to institute this new fee. This hotel would not be my choice of a destination but it was convenient because of the conference. The pool area is very crowded and loud. People came down to the pool before it opened to save chairs and then never showed up later. Some pool areas were closed during the day due to the multiple weddings going on at all times. The landscaping is beautiful and the restaurants were fairly good but pricey. The tenor who took us for a gondola ride was really interesting. It was a short but nice ride.

We stayed at the Hyatt over Memorial Day week-end. We ended up receiving a room above the lobby and it was incredibly noisy due to the bands that play on the week-ends (not sure if they play during the week). We asked for another room however; they were sold out and didn't have another room for us even though we had paid extra for a better room. They offered to move us the following day and gave us a credit to use at the hotel however; we didn't want the hassel of moving. The food in the restaurant was average however; the service was horrific. It took forever to receive our food. On Memorial Day week-end the hotel cleared out however; we had to wait 10 mins for an outdoor table because they didn't have enough staff to clear tables. It was rather ridiculous. For a little more money you should consider another hotel.

We went over Memorial Day weekend, and had a wonderful time. The resort is wonderful. We can not wait to go back.

Okay......I debated on whether to give this resort a 4 star or 3 star rating. It ends up getting a 4 star due to the way they handled some issues I had. First of all, let me start by saying this hotel is an absolutely gorgeous property with beautiful grounds - very well maintained. The pools are quite nice, however, beware that unless the weather is very hot, the pools will be freezing. The temperature the weekend we were there was 110 degrees and the pool was a reasonable temperature. One thing you MUST be aware of is that you NEED to make sure you get a room in a good location. We were first put in a room basically above the lobby looking out into the area where guests leave and depart the hotel. DISASTER. The noise level was unbearable. Also.......there is a mexican band that plays very loud music each and every night. You will be unable to sleep. Our first night was ruined and we complained the next day. Due to my persistence we were moved to a very nice room with a lovely patio at the back of the hotel. Never heard the band again. You MUST make sure when checking in that you specifically ask for a room as far away from the lobby area as possible. Insist on it. Even if you have to pay more it's worth it. Also be careful about charges in the pool area bar. We ended up with a $57 dollar charge that we never had. Luckilly I caught it and had it removed. Overall, if you get the right room, you will love this place, but again.......I can't stress enough.......GET A ROOM AS FAR AWAY FROM THE LOBBY AREA AS POSSIBLE!!!!

We just returned from a one week stay at the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The resort is stunning - from the rooms to the lobby to the breathtaking gardens to the pools. We had a suite which gave us access to the Regency Club and it was fantastic. We had a wonderful breakfast there every morning. Don't miss the gondola ride ~ how romantic! The food in the restaurants is very, very good. The pools are stunning ~ I was very impressed with the design and layout. Our little girl just loved the beach and wanted to go play there every day!

Would we stay here again? Without a doubt. We have already booked our next visit.

This was our second stay in the course of 3 years and we were not dissappointed. This time we stayed in a Regency Club room which appeared to be somewhat larger then a preferred view room and had a good view of the fountain courtyard. The king bed was very comfortable with a choice of 6 different pillow types. Since we stayed in early May, the pool water was comfortable, unlike our last stay in November 2002, where the pool water temperature was not that inviting. The resort is in a convenient location which afforded us a chance to take walks outside the grounds. The Gainey Shops are at the corner of Scottsdale Road and have a good choice of restaurants. We did have a rental car so we only ate dinner once at the hotel. The grounds are fantastic and are well maintained. The lobby area is always hopping with activity and a good place to sit and enjoy a drink and people watch. We will certainly be back!
