“Great hotel and staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

We stayed here for four nights and loved pretty much everything about it. The pool area is large and split into kids and adults which meant that it was never too crowded even on busy days.

The room was large and clean with a very large balcony/patio area.

Best of all though were the staff who were always helpful and pleasant no matter what the query.

The bar area is good too and the hotel is within walking distance of a couple of other restaurants.

We also made use of the hotel shuttle to take a trip down to the fashion Square Mall.

Stayed here last month for one night with my girlfriend. We were heading back to the airport the following morning so this hotel was a good choice.
First impressions were great - excellent check in experience with margaritas! Bell boy brought our bags to our room with us, all the time explaining the layout of the resort, whats available etc. Very informative.
Room was pretty average size with fridge and good size bathroom. We had a small patio outside the room that overlooked a large garden area. All in all very nice.
We did wander around the resort a bit. Its very big and quite a popular spot for families and large groups. We used the pool at the spa and it was lovely. That night we headed to the main 'bar area' (which is indoor and outdoor) and there was a band playing. Quite enjoyable although sometimes hard to get service. Breakfast the following morning was great with excellent service.
Overall, I'd recommend this resort. Its very big and lively but very nice and for the most part the service is great.

We stayed at the Hyatt last weekend for a much needed staycation. Checked in early on Saturday and was greeted with a welcome margarita!! Didn't expect that but a very nice touch. Our room was outstanding with an extended patio where we enjoyed drinks and breakfast sunday morning. The pools are absolutely wonderful! The adult pool was a lot quieter than the side with the kids which was perfect for us. Hotel Assistant Manager Colleen Bonds stopped by both days to make sure we had everything we needed. She's a great "ambassador" for the resort. Our server was Daniel both days and he constantly checked on us and made sure our drinks were full. And each time with a smile! The bellmen (Scott,Hugh, and Grant) were very helpful in directing us around the resort and holding our bags for us sunday while we hung out at the pool one last time. Austin and Dave at valet greeted us with a smile each time and delivered our car quickly. The Hyatt Scottsdale is a wonderful resort for all travelers business or leisure like us. Their employees all deliver impeccable service and we will be back again soon!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the extended balcony

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale for two-night/three-days at the end of June. We were joined on our trip by 4 other couples whom we knew. Had it been just my husband and I looking for a romantic vacation, I likely would go to a smaller, more intimate hotel. However, if you're traveling with a group of friends, a wedding party, or with kids, the Hyatt (which is also dog-friendly) is the perfect hotel for you.

You will find the exterior of the hotel quite dated looking but don't let this alarm you. Just a few years ago, the hotel underwent a massive (I was told $75 million) renovation. The interior is very impressive and rooms are like new. The pools are incredible and the cacti gardens around the hotel are beautiful. In the centre of the grounds is, what I was told, is a 150-year old cactus.

STAFF:

I can't say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The guys at the front will order you a taxi and you never have to wait more than a minute. As you check-in, you are immediately offered a cold margarita. It doesn't get more welcoming than that on a hot day!

KIDS:

If you are traveling with kids, you have definitely considered the right resort. The Hyatt doesn't have just your standard pool - it has a 2.5 acre water park AND a pool with sand so kids can enjoy a day at the "beach"! I'm sure they will also gleefully enjoy spotting the adorable cottontail rabbits which roam the resort. Don't have kids? Don't worry, neither do we. We relaxed in the private adult pool and it was great. The poolside staff are incredibly friendly and keep the drinks flowing. The food-aggressive local birds and more hilarious than frightening - although they may catch you by surprise while stealing a french fry (or entire sandwich) right off your plate! Either way, we had a few good laughs watching our friends lunch get stolen by these cheeky birds.

ACTIVITIES:

There are no shortage of things to do at this hotel - they even have a gondola ride around the golf course pond. A shuttle will take you to Gainey Ranch Golf Course - which use to be an Arabia horse ranch. Now it's a beautiful 27-hole golf course. There are a lot of sand traps so I would place the difficultly level at moderate. The staff here are also wonderful and gave us the twilight rate simply because it was "too hot" of a morning in June. If you play this course more than once during your stay, you are also eligible for a large discount.

For activities outside of the hotel, you can see the adventure tourism shop in the lobby. They offer rock climbing, horseback riding, ATV tours and more.

Had to go here for a 3 day work convention. Very hot in June, even at night. Gondola ride was nice and came free with our convention. Otherwise, it is $10 per adult and is about a 10-15 min. ride. The little restaurant next to the sushi place has great quesadillas and tortilla soup. Also ate at Alto, the Italian place. Food was very good, but not amazing.

The adult pool is very nice at night. They keep the adult pool area dimly lit at night. Had I known this I would have brought a bathing suit :) Water slides in another area looked great. I heard there were more pools but I avoided going outside in the heat to explore. Didn't go to spa either.

Small convenience store has postcards, snacks, coffee, gifts, etc. Showers are great an can easily fit 2-3 people. Pillows and king bed were very comfortable. Very large resort and finding room can be a bit confusing the first day but they have maps. Would gladly return again if the company was paying, but more than I would want to pay for a personal vacation.

My family and I spent Mother's Day weekend here. We just moved to the area back in January and wanted to do something fun for a weekend. It was so nice an relaxing. The room was beautiful, and the view of the mountains/golf course were amazing. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool. They had a cute beach area, which is great for small children. They also have a water slide which my girls enjoyed a lot. It was also our 15 yr Anniversary weekend and they brought us Champagne and chocolates to the room, which I thought was super nice. The lobby is very pretty with that open air feel. They had a band at night and they had a nice bar area and seating area to have drinks. We will be going back there for sure!

Room Tip: We asked for a mountain view on the highest floor.

We came to Scottsdale in the middle of the June heat and found a pleasant oasis at the Hyatt. When you first drive up you'll see the beautiful entry court. We were extremely pleased to find that we could self park and avoid a valet charge. The self-parking is literally just down the driveway. It's great. The inside of the lobby has that great Southwestern feel of integrating nature into the construction of the building. The staff were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the pool facilities, which are grand to say the least. There's an adult pool and then the giant general pool. The nice thing about the adult pool is that there is a full-service bar attached. The general pool is very nice as well with basketball hoops and volleyball nets. Not our thing, but nice for kids I'd guess. Our room was excellently appointed with an extremely comfortable bed and a nice balcony.

We only stayed one night, but we'd have been happy to stay a lot longer.

Room Tip: Get something off the first floor to enjoy the balconies.
