“Awesome property!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

My fiance and I stayed here for four nights in July for a weekend getaway. Our room was fantastic. We had a balcony overlooking the pool area. About the pool area, it was perfect. There are about 10 pools in all, and we definitely stayed in the adult pool. It's segregated from the kids, and there was usually music playing so there was no noise traveling from the other pool. I will say though, I made my way over to the 4 story water slide. It's a must. I'm 6-3, 200 lbs and I gained some momentum going down that thing. Definitely drank some water on impact. Pools are clean and property is very well maintained.

We golfed twice at Gainey Ranch. For those guests staying at the Hyatt, you pay full price the first day and half the second. We had July rates which were not bad, $50/person for a round of 18. I have a separate review for the golf course. But I will say, Vince at the concierge was fantastic, he carted us over to the golf course and brought us back. Top notch service.

We dined at Alto our first night. Unimpressed. The drinks were weak, but that is expected for a resort. The food was standard Italian cuisine, nothing to rave over. The antipasto we ordered was delish though.

We'll be back at this property. A gem in Scottsdale.

We stayed at this property for three nights in July for a girls trip. I would HIGHLY recommend booking a Regency Club level room. It is worth the extra money for all the perks. Our room was awesome (if a bit of a trek from the front desk and main bar area) with a great balcony overlooking the casitas, lake and golf course. We had a lovely view of the mountains and got to hear the Italian opera the gondoliers sang every night. (Couldn't hear them with the door closed though!)

The Regency Club lounge is stocked with soft drinks, water (still and sparkling) on tap, iced tea, lemonade and snacks all day. The breakfast offers a hearty European style selection and the food was always kept stocked. In the evenings there was an "apetizer" from 5:00-8:00. I could have made a meal of that by itself and the wine was tastier than we expected for $4.00/glass. The lounge has a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking a mature lilly pond. It was a great setting. Beware the lounge was a completely different place on Sat and Sun when there are kids around. There is an adult only seating area but it wasn't far enough away...in my opinion.

The other perk of the Regency Club room is access to the Aviana Spa. We had treatments on one day, which were great, but we LOVED going over to use the pool and amenities on days we weren't getting treatments. The space is quiet and tranquil and they provide complementary light snacks and refreshments.

We ate at the hotel several times and were quite impressed with the quality of the food and friendliness of the service. If you eat at the Itialian restaurant on the property, you get vouchers for a gondola ride, which was something I have never done. It was fun and not as cheesy as you'd think. The main bar is a great area in the evenings with live music as well as the friendly and attentive bar staff.

The staff was wonderful from the moment we arrived (with complementary welcome margaritas)to the time we left, everyone we encountered seemd to be geniunely kind and eager to make our stay as relaxing as possible.

Only downsides we found were our keys and housekeeping. Our keys stopped working on several occasions. This was mostly annoying because we were SO far from the front desk. And we aren't sure what exactly the housekeepers did. The beds were made but we never received new toiletries and our garbage wasn't ever emptied. Not deal breakers though.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this property. There is something here for any taste or preferance. I would stay here again if I had the opportunity to return to the Scottsdale area.

Stayed here for 3 nights to enjoy some family time in the sun. The highlight was the pool area - there is something for everyone there. The beach area is perfectly suited to small children, the older kids enjoyed the platform in the middle of the big pool, water slide, basketball hoops and volleyball net. The kids and adults on this trip enjoyed the pool equally. There is also an adult pool which looked quiet and peaceful but we didn't spend any time there. The layout of the pool space is nice and lends itself to exploring since there are many different areas to lounge and swim. There was plenty of seating poolside Thursday and Friday but Saturday was a little bit nuts. The service by the pool was spotty -- when they were on, they were on and when they were busy -- we didn't see them for long periods of time and waited awhile for our food/drinks. The hotel itself is very nice -- rooms and decor reflect a desert-contemporary style. The food was good but you'll definitely pay resort prices. Not many options for dining without spending a fortune. Even the in-hotel market was crazy expensive for a breakfast sandwich and juice drink. Our room overlooked the lake and was very quiet - recommend this side of the hotel away from the lobby where there is live music nightly. Overall, it was a nice weekend getaway in the desert and a great property for the kids and adults alike.

Room Tip: Rooms by the lake are quiet - away from lobby and nightly live music.

I am so pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. We built our water playground with all ages in mind and are thrilled to hear that you found we have something to offer both children and adults. We apologize that service by the pool was slow. I will pass your review on to the rest of our team to insure that this does not occur again. Thank you for providing us with feedback so we can improve!

Stayed at this hotel for seven nights. The staff are very helpful and the rooms had very good air conditioning as it was over 100 degrees outside. The pools at this hotel are very well kept and have an adult only section with a swim up bar. I would recommend the frozen cocktails. They are just what you need in this heat. Also various children's pools with a large waterslide and even a mini beach with sand. The gardens are very well maintained and you can even go on a gondola trip. Has it's own golf course. However being used to all inclusive, I found the food and drink in the hotel to be quite expensive. I would really recommend the spa. They have lots of different treatments, sauna, steam room and a lovely mineral pool.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are quiet. It was very hot while we were there so we stayed in the pool all afternoon. The kids had a fantastic time going from pool to pool. The waterside was very fun. They have a quiet adult pool area for those without kids.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our 3 week tour of the western US. We stayed at nine hotels in all but in our view this hotel and resort was the best.

We arrived in the heat of 118f and were just behind a bus tour that was checking in. However, the line moved fairly quickly as extra staff were brought out to the front desk and the complimentary margarita helped with the 10 minute wait!

We had a standard third floor room facing the courtyard and ornamental pool. The king bed and pillows were very comfy. HD TV and many channels were available together with free Wi Fi in the room. The bathroom was roomy but there was only a shower in there but this was not a problem for us. There was balcony with two chairs which was pleasant to sit out there in the evening with a glass of wine! Because it was so hot, the air con was welcome and very efficient but perhaps slightly on the noisy side. Self-park was free and is a short walk away in the front of the hotel.

We did spend our “rest” day by the adult pool and pool service was excellent and friendly. There were a good selection of loungers and parasols. The pool complex is large with varying size of pools and a nice sand beach with the water lapping onto the sand for youngsters to play in on the main pool. There is also a water slide with resort supervision. The pools are fed by overhead water “rivers” and there are some refreshing waterfalls into some of the pools.

We ate one meal in SWB restaurant which was very good. On our second night we ate in Alto restaurant and the food was excellent. The free gondola ride on the lake after was great and my wife especially enjoyed having an Italian song sung (no idea what he was singing about but it sounded very good!). Breakfasts in SWB were very good.

One slight gripe! Unfortunately Morgan on checking in did not tell us about the resort fee of $25 plus tax, per night, so this came as a bit of a surprise to us on checking out. We booked this tour via a UK travel agent and they didn’t tell us about it and I cannot see anything about this “hidden” charge on Hyatt’s website!

Would we return? Most certainly.

This hotel is top-notch. Check-in was smooth, welcoming and with a margarita! The grounds are spectacular. We travelled with two children (10 and 8) and they adored the pool area, waterslide, pool basketball and volley-ball, and the incredible beach section in the main pool. It was extremely hot and we appreciated the complimentary ice water available throughout the pool area. For us, the pool grounds were a definite 10. Restaurants selection was good, although a bit pricey. Alot of restaurants are available within the area. Rooms were nice and spacious. We were facing the lake and it was not noisy. Try to ask for these rooms if you want to get away from the lobby entertainment which features nightly music.Overall great place to relax and enjoy the water features.
