My husband and I were in Phoenix for work and wanted a comfortable, relaxing place to stay over the weekend and booked this. The website makes it look awesome but don't believe it! The rooms are outdated and the bathrooms are even worse (cramped and dirty). The furniture looks cheap in the rooms and throughout the hotel. The doors are very loud and voices echo outside of your room. We wanted to lay by the pool but there was a pool party going on from noon to 6pm both days. Then the majority of the people get rooms so the whole weekend was like a big frat party. Voices in the hall kept us up from 2am-6am when we had to get up at 7am for work. I am 30 and like to party but this was not what I was looking for. I will never return to this hotel.
I don't like to write negative reviews but I feel like I had to on this one. The reason I rated 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff was awesome and drinks at the Red Lounge were the best I've ever had.
The hotel definitely needs updated and please show on your website about the pool party.

I had some friends visiting from out of town recently and the property was recommended by a friend of mine so I decided we should try it. Being from the area I am always looking for places to get away even if I can't afford to leave town. I am so glad we took my friends recommendation...this place was amazing!!! We stayed from Thursday - Sunday. Prime location! The property is in the middle of an area called Old Town an there are tons of shops restaurants and bars, very convenient, everything you need without having to go far, and the staff was great and super helpful in pointing us in the directions we needed to head for whatever it is we were looking for. The rest of the weekend was split between hanging poolside and enjoying the nightlife. The pool vibe was awesome! Friday was kind of chill but Saturday was amazing as they had DJ's and live entertainment - it was such a good time. They also have 2 amazing bars on property (Red Bar, Midnight Room) which were so much fun and the restaurant (Asia de Cuba) was amazing as well. My suggestion, if you're looking for a place that has it all you need to check this place out. It's in the middle of everything and there really isn't any reason to leave...I'm definitely going back!

I recently have been looking to buy a house in the Scottsdale area, so I Travel to Arizona about twice a month from CA. Being single, I like to stay somewhere that is close to the Night Life. The Mondrian is in short walking distance to a lot of cool bars and great restaurants. The pool on saturdays there is awesome too, lots of local girls tend to hang out there. What I like most is the sophisticated, but not arrogant, vibe the Hotel gives off as a whole.
The rooms are sleek and contemporary, and the king-size beds are comfortable. Check out the mini bar in the room, its perfect to get the night started before heading out.
I highly recommend this hotel for anyone that appreciates good nightlife and a upbeat social scene.

I stayed at the Mondrian for my bachelorette weekend. It was myself and 6 other girls and we had an amazing time. The bars on the hotel campus were well appointed and lively especially given that we were there in early Aprilm, which is far from high season! Despite a vibrant night scene the rooms are tucked away enough that you don't get any noise from the main building. If you wanted to relax you would not be disturbed.

The staff at the hotel were amazing from check-in to check-out. The rooms are trendy and the patios on the main pool rooms are just beautiful, with pink flowers in full bloom! Tons of privacy on the patio as well. The only negative, and not really a negative more just my being fussy, was the bathroom. It was clean and a good size, but not quite as modern as I would have thought. Just a standard tub and shower, but don't get me wrong it was still nice!

Dear LAC0383,

It sounds like you had a great bachelorette weekend! I am happy you had a memorable time and would like to thank you for your review. Our three bars and restaurant all have great events happening every weekend, so the next time you are planning a trip to the desert, give us a call to see what is going on.

Warmly,

Tim

Genuine Hip Hotel spoilt by MTV Pool Party Vibe....

This is a great weekend getaway hotel if you like an MTV style pool party blaring outside your room, girls in thigh skimming skirts tottering through the lobby, and guys in that uninspiring staple of cargo shorts and polo shirts. If not, then stay during the week when it's very quiet, you get the pool and most of the hotel to yourself and it feels like a genuine bit of luxe in the Arizonan heat.

Obviously converted from a less salubrious hotel, the rooms are stylish and sizeable but the corridors to get to them seem like something from a Super 8 motel and could do with a lick of paint and more lights. The staff, resplendent in crisp white, were very helpful and the breakfast and dinner in Asia de Cuba were great.

The main downside is that the hotel is squarely aimed at Phoenix's "great and good". The hotel has pretensions to be the hippest hot spot in Arizona (not being from the US I'm not sure how hard that would be??) with its cool bars, nightclub and pool party. It felt like it was clamouring for glamour but with a parochial clientele - this is not LA but everyone seemed to think it was, and the one thing worse than going to an LA pool party is going to a party in Arizona where everyone believes and wishes they were at an LA pool party.

To sum up - a bit try-hard at weekends, but during the week was a blissful 5 star experience.

Dear harryandberyl,

It’s a honor to have such a great review from such world travelers! Summertime has arrived in the desert and the way to beat the heat is at the pool over the weekend. We jazz it up some with a DJ every Saturday and Sunday.

I’m glad you could experience the weekday as well. It does quiet down and I am pleased you had a blissful 5 star experience.

Maybe I can join you on your next trip?

Kind regards,

Tim
