“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Good location. Nice value for the accomadations. Breakfast is included. The rooms are a bit beat up but are still cleaned nicely. Compared to the higher priced alternatives, I would stay here again. Casino down the road and everything close by.

Room Tip: Stay on the lower floor.

If you are a couple looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, look elsewhere. This place is for families. Both pools were teeming with screaming kids all day. Parents were yelling down from the walkways.

The hotel itself is a bit worn, as several previous reviewers have noted. The rooms are large, but not particularly comfortable. Our suite had two smallish queen beds. There is plenty of storage space.

The air conditioning was incredibly noisy, to the point where it was hard to have a conversation with a normal voice. It kept the room cool and masked the noise from the kids in the pool... perhaps that was the point.

We heard people talking about the "free" breakfast. Hello? Who did they think were paying for it? Included in room rate, sure, but not free! The breakfast room is like a cafeteria, not a buffet. You walk up to the counter, order and you get served eggs/bacon/sausage etc that has already been fried and is just waiting to be served. Not exactly cooked to order. The fruit was the same every day we stayed there, choice of bananas or sliced grapefruit.

There is a wet bar in every suite and a sign that says you can call housekeeping if you need glasses, bowls etc. On the two last days, we did not get new plastic cups. We called the listed phone number and asked for wine glasses. They never arrived. That was the only request we made during our stay - I hope it is not typical for the general service level.

With two pools, the hotel could easily be more accommodating for couples if they made one of the pools adult only.

The hotel is near old Scottsdale, it is possible to walk to the restaurants in town if you have comfortable shoes. We walked there a couple of times, but I think it really is a bit far for convenience. There is a good restaurant closer by, called the Roaring fork. We also enjoyed the Mexican restaurant next door.

Our stay was pre-paid for a full week, otherwise we would have left after two nights. If we return to Scottsdale, we will stay elsewhere.

By chosing this hotel, you wil find that it is right where you want to be while vactioning in the Scottsdale area. It is minutes from almost anything including shopping, restaurants and attractions. The rooms are clean and well appointed, with plenty of space since you not only have a bedroom area, but a living and kitchen area as well. Breakfast in included every morning, although not resort caliber, it is tasty and filing. You can choose to eat inside , or by the pool.
The only major drawback is the parking situation. When busy, which I think is always, parking is a problem, and you must park quite far away from the hotel in their auxillary lots..not so great if you are carrying tons of stuff, or have small children. A small price to pay for location, location, location. however

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the pool, if you don't like early morning, or late evening noise

This hotel was a great place for a stop over. We booked it ahead and were picked up by the shuttle at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport at the beginning of our stay. The really great thing was they picked us up at the airport and transported us to the hotel to retrieve our rental car at Dollar which is in the lobby of the hotel, even though we were booked for the end of our trip.
We stayed the night before we flew out and were transferred back to SkyHarbor.
The hotel room was a suite with a small kitchenette and seperate bedroom. The room was clean, and nice although the resort if showing a little age. The pools were nice and there was a reception with free popcorn and drinks the evening before we left

Although located in the desert, the property of Chaparral Suites has the feel of a tropical getaway. The landscaping and fountains are very lush and the birds sing all day long. The rooms are big suites with a kitchen area, sofa area, dining table, two televisions, and comfortable beds. The staff are friendly and helpful. They worked to make the bathrooms in the suites accessible for the attendees of our arthritis conference, adding several grab bars to each tub/shower and purchasing showers chairs for use by attendees. The icing on the cake is the free cook-to-order breakfast and free happy hour every day. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends.

We held our Arthritis Introspective Gathering conference at Chaparral and the high quality service and accommodations was above rwproach. Hannah and his team worked with our limited budget and came up with an amazing meet & greet reception along with a delicious last meal. The complementary full service breakfast and free happy hour helped our guests with fixed incomes. We had an amazing time.
