“Overated - Not a Hotel”

I was expecting a hotel not a motel. Was given the wrong type of room at first (a double instead of premium king with flat screen tv) but after contacting the front desk I was able to get the correct room. Very dirty carpeting and the towels were feeling a little damp and slightly used. No breakfast the next morning because of some kind of a lock-out and a locksmith was needed - no apology. The AC was hard to get a comfortable temperature, was off and on all night, and was very loud.

The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were very high so that my neck was wore the next morning.
The bar was nice however the bartender continued to serve an obviously drunken man who was loud and obnoxious.

Would not stay there again.

My son (20 yr old) and I stayed here for five nights (Sat.-Wed.) in mid-March. We were booked for a Premium King room with a rollaway the first night and a Premium Double room the remaining four nights. The reservation was held on a Visa card. When I booked it, about 6 weeks in advance, they guaranteed the rollaway. I called the hotel the night before arrival to confirm things and, again, they guaranteed the rollaway. We arrived 11PM Saturday night. They checked us in after about 5 minutes of looking through their system for a room. OK, it was late. We went to the room and even before opening the door noticed there was someone already checked into it. I went back to the desk and they told me they didn't have the room I reserved. After some expression of dissatisfaction, they gave us a "deluxe executive" room with a pullout sleeper. It is basically the same as the other Premium rooms, but bigger. So this reservation didn't start out good, but things improved. We moved to a 2nd-floor Premium Double overlooking the pool the next morning and that room was OK. It was fairly clean, has a great LCD TV on the wall and a strong signal for WiFi. Very nice. My only complaint, the water did not drain well from the shower. Regarding other aspects of the hotel, the breakfast was good enough, but not great. Mainly it is cereal, small danish rolls, scrambled eggs, bacon and cold waffles. I don't drink coffee and there was no orange juice. Commonly I had to wait for staff to fill empty trays. The exercise room was nice, but one of two ellipticals didn't work and twice there were no towels for drying off. I talked to front desk staff a couple of times on the way back from breakfast and they are cordial, but minimally helpful. I shopped around quite a bit for hotel prices and for the location and offerings, this is one of the least expensive. Considering the cost of the room, accommodations and what you get, I would say this is a good deal, but not a great one. Overall, I would recommend it to a friend if they are traveling on a tight budget.

“Hotel Coming Up!”

New York, NY
Mar 18, 2008

In November 2008 I stayed there while going to a weekend conference just down the road at the Doubletree. Two
thousand people attended but Hotel Scottsdale was a nice
quiet haven where most of my retreat occurred.
As the manager says, "It has come up." They now have
a gym, Cezar's Restaurant and the very chic Tesoro
Lounge. Friendly and helpful staff: They gave me a map,
showed me where everything was, and made good suggestions.
The beautiful pool is now heated! I didn't get as great a room
as last time, when I got upgraded, but it was quite fine
and comfortable. Ask for a pool view if you're willing to spend just
a few more dollars. My pool-view room in '06 had colorful bedspreads which I enjoyed, but this time I paid less, so overall
it's pretty fair. Was a sleepy business motel which now is a bit more
festive. Received a free taxi to the gallery row. A great experience!

The rooms at this hotel are large and okay. The pool and whirlpool are nice, but almost no service (drinks) there. The breakfast was very simple (plastic plates etc.), but maybe because as a European I am used to much better...

“This is a Travel Lodge - Not a Hotel”

Hotel Scottsdale

Mar 3, 2008

A friend and I went to Scottsdale on a girls shopping weekend, and chose Hotel Scottsdale for the location, and description. It did not live up to the reviews and rating on Travelocity. First of all it is NOT a hotel, it is a motel/travel lodge. They have done some renovations to the pool area and interior lobby, bar and restaurant area but that is where the face lift ends. The rooms are tired, the furniture is dated and old. The free breakfast is just a continental breakfast with the addition of scrambled eggs. The coffee was weak, and the buffet tables were not well maintained. If you want a relaxing stay in a nice hotel, don't stay here. If you are looking for the travel lodge experience, this is the place for you.
